Help me on my first evaluation to the surgeon!

Recommended Posts

I have my first appointment with the surgeon on Monday, August 28. I'm not sure that my BMI and my medical history are enough to get my band covered by insurance. Trying to cover the costs of the lapband without insurance would be a deal breaker. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank youu for your help!

Thanks,

make life easy for yourself.

Call your insurance company and find out what the criteria is.

Get online and calculate your BMI so you are mentally ready.

Make a list of anything that is "not right" on you- relux, snoring, sleep apnea, shortness of breath. All these things they want to know and you need to have been thinking about it before you go.

Then have a list of questions you want to know.

My case I had to gain weight to qualify. Not so much that I could never had done it.

It just helps to mentally ready and know where you stand in the big picture.

Thanks for answering so quickly! You are the very first person to respond to my very first day as a lapband talk member!

It does seem frustrating to gain weight in order to lose it...by the lapband. According to the insurance, I do need to weigh more or have more serious problems.

The main reason I want the lapband is after 15+ years of weight loss that is always followed by (more) weight gain, I'm just tired of it! I can go on one more diet, I just can't go on 100 more diets!

Thanks again.

If you already know what your insurance company requires for coverage, which it seems you do, then just make a list of it and circle the things that pertain to you, and bring the list to your appointment. I'm not sure what you're wanting suggestions about...? That's about all you can do...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
