Ok, so I am 15 weeks out from surgery, and I have lost 53 pounds so far. When I started, I was wearing a tight size 22 in pants, 2x in tops. Now I am wearing a somewhat loose 20 in pants, and 1x in tops - shouldn't I have lost more sizes than that considering the amount of pounds that I lost? I was hoping to be wearing a 16 in pants by now.

At 237 I was in a loose 20. That is about right I believe. You really lost almost 2 sizes if you were in a tight size 22. Sounds like you are doing well!

Thanks ladies, I guess I'm just anxious because I'm going on vacation next month, and I want my friends who haven't seen me in a year to be wowed by my new figure. My numbers look great scale-wise, but I still see a fat girl when I look in the mirror. I'll work on that.

Good luck to you, Welittle1, hopefully you'll be scheduled soon.

I've lost 36lbs and haven't really gone down in pant size. It's frustrating but I gave a ghetto booty and thighs. Lolol

Ive lost 50 pounds and my pants are just starting to look ridiculously big on me. I think the whole plus size thing there really so much room to fluctuate in the clothes. From what I understand once you hit the smaller sizes you will drop sizes quick. I know I can't wait to get there either.....come on single didget sizes.

I am almost 8 weeks out and lost 62 lbs and I seriously just went down a size. It's because my clothes were so tight before : )

The larger the size the more it takes to drop a size. I am down 53 lbs and have barely changed a size into a 32 from Avenue...it also depends on where the clothes are from...I have some old (10 years) lane bryant jeans that are a 28 and they go up..just can't quite breath in them...about 10 more pounds and I should be good. Once you are into the smaller sizes like a 16/18 then it will take like 15-20 lbs to change sizes.

Yep, with plus sizes 10-20lbs is usually a size, or about 1.5-2" in measurements (35" waist to 33", etc.)

Another thought - depending on how your hormones are influencing where you lose weight, you may not lose sizes for a bit and then BAM, skip over a size or two. Remember, fat stores estrogen, and as that fat is released, so is the stored estrogen.

Sometimes, it sucks to be a woman >.<

I hadn't realized how snug my 20s were until I lost weight, they fit for about 35 pounds, I just went down to all 18s. I think once we get into 16, 14 etc they will move faster! You are doing great :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
