Never EVER thought I would actually enjoy going to the gym. I've started going though and today even took my son. My program through my surgeon gives me a 6 month free membership to the healthplex at the hospital and its a really great gym. Theres so many classes and activities to do, and it has something called KidFit, where you can bring your kid while you work out. My son LOVED it. I had 2 hours of peace to get my cardio in today and I have to say, I rocked it. Considering I sold a treadmill a couple yrs ago that I used maybe 5 time, lol. I'm actually looking forward to going back tomorrow night to do some weights with my trainer! :)

I LOVE going to the gym! Unfortunately, I have only got to go twice!!!! Breaks my heart, because I really enjoy it, and it releases so much stress. The gym I attend only allows kids for the special kid class they have on Wednesday nights, but I have got to start taking my oldest son...he is gaining so much weight, because he doesn't eat well...it breaks my heart. I just want him to be happy, and healthy!

I'm right there with ya!! I never in a million years would've imagined that I would've enjoyed working out...EVER!! I look forward to it now and miss it when I don't go. Like you, I have a little one and he heads off to the "toy room" and I have time for me to work on me. PRICELESS!! :-)

My son is only 3 and so far takes after his father, the kid would rather a banana than ice cream, lol, BUT, I want to teach him healthy habits early. I dont want him to have to go through what I went through since I was 12 yrs old. The ME time IS priceless! Even though I'm sweating my butt off, I dont hear, mom, mom, mom, mom for 2 whole hours! :)

Good for you, I can't see the weight fall off with all of your workouts. I started off around your weight and I am now at 185.

I really wish my gym had a kid room....the local YMCA has one, but its just too far of a drive. I go when I can...my husband is a railroad engineer, and is always gone, so for the remainder of the summer, I will only get to go when he is home. Other than that, I try to work out at home, which isn't always real easy with 3 wild boys! I do love it though...I put my ear buds in my ignore everything else going on around me...its such a serene feeling! I am hoping to start with a trainer once school starts back, 3 days a week. My younger 2 boys eat really healthy, all fruits, veggies, and yogurt...my oldest (10) doesn't eat a lot, he just doesn't get any veggies! He is very husky, and worries me!

I felt the same way. I dreaded exercise and just bit the bullet. I have worked my way up to at least an hour 5-6 times a week. I love the "high" I get when the endorphines (sp) kick in. I am pre-op and am so addicted to the gym that I was just planning tonight that I may have to take the bus to the gym the week after my surgery before I'm cleared to drive. I know I won't be able to maintain my same level of exertion in the days immediately following surgery, but I don't want to sit on my arse and lose my mojo. :tongue2:

If someone had told me 10 months ago (pre-op) that *I* would be a gym rat, I'd have laughed my butt off at them! But, I am, and like GivingItMyAll, I'm addicted to that endorphin high! I find myself having conversations with people about the best way to do an exercise. I'm sick, but I'm okay with that! :)

Gotcha. I definitely plan on taking the intensity level WAY down.

Ok so I am almost 5 months out and have only lost about 65 pounds. I am concerned it is because I have not started a regular exercise routine. When everyone else started going to the gym regularly- is that when you noticed the weight just starting to melt off? I am getting frustrated only consuming 1000-1100 calories a day and I feel like my weight loss is hitting a plateau- suggestions????

I feel like I'm losing really slowly and I'm only 6 weeks out. I have heard, mostly from on here, and then from my PT that a mixture of light weights and cardio is what helps weight loss. That's the reason I started really going because since my 4th week out, I've barely seen the scale move. After a few days at the gym, I've finally gotten past 28lbs lost and now I've lost 30. I don't know if its directly related to the gym or maybe I'm getting past a stall. But I do feel better. I actually feel proud of myself for sticking with it too :)

Rhi, I definitely think that exercise has been a key for me... and even that hasn't been a magic bullet. ;) But, knowing that I'm doing everything possible to give myself the optimal chance for success has been a key for me, at least in my head! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
