I Have Set My Date! July 19Th Dr Almanza - Anyone Else?

Recommended Posts

More than likely you won't need any pain meds they will give you a good dose when you leave in the morning the some later that evening. The pain is mainly from the gas so that's why you have to walk walk walk. You could take some of your own liquid if your worried about it. Yes I was in pain and tout I was dying! When I wasn't walking I was sleeping!

  • Very good information! Thanks so much. I am being sleeved on 7/23 with Almanza. I am grateful to know that I should have a firm pillow with me. Were you able to get liquid pain meds from your doc here in the states to take with you? That sounds like a good plan.

I am also set to be sleeved by dr. Almanza on the 9th of this month. I feel like heis a good doctor with what other reviews I have read, but my families very concerned is about the safety of he environment in Tijuana. Should I be worried?

I don't know as much as some might because I don't watch the news, but I would probably skip any shopping or outings. Just stay within the hospital and recovery house and you should be fine. :) The good thing is that even creeps who do those horrible things understand that Medical Tourism is important to MX and my hope is that they wouldn't want to mess with that.

Some people brought some liquid pain meds. I didn't. Plus I didn't know of it might interact with what they gave me. I made it. It was tough but doable. Take a heating pad. That helped a lot. And I also took some hot tea bags. And sugar free koolaid or Hawaiian punch. Good luck!!

I had my surgery with dr. Almanza on July 9, 2012. I was wondering if other people in my goup had site infections as well. I just came from the ER last night and i have an abcess under one of my wounds. I have 3 site infections out of five. The largest incision is still bleeding a slot. To the point that I have to change the dressing three times a day. Er had advised me that if this incision does not heal and continue tot have pockets of blood under it, it have to return to Mexico to have the incision reopened. The docs here in the US will not touch somebody else's surgery. So I am left in limbo. The problem is, I don't think the surgeon there will do it. That place is a factory! I was happy with their care, everything looked clean but I have no idea how they sanitize their surgical equipment so quickly with the amount of surgeries they have each day. There were 14 surgeries that day, but I was the third. I don't think they're gave me enough antibiotics. I suggest for those about to have surgery, visit the hospital and ask how they sanitze their equipment. Also have your own MD prescribe you prophylactic antibiotic if you are prone to infection. I hope my wound infection issue is resolved. I really do not want to go back to TJ.

I am sorry you are having this experience, though. I do think the surgeons there would provide follow-up care if needed. There were a couple of people there on the day I was sleeved receiving follow-up care.

Also, I had a problem with a site, but it was not an infection. I had no problem having my doctor here provide care. Maybe you should try another US physician.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
