Looking For A Female Buddy With Vsg Experience

Recommended Posts

Hi!

My name is Erika. I am 26/f, 5'3", 250lbs. Married four years, no kids. I have a Lap-Band (hate it). Having my revision done 8/17/12 in Tijuana with Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Villareal. I have decided I'm going to do this, but I need a mentor. I'd love to have anyone with advice or suggestions who is comfortable talking with me! :) I am very friendly, outgoing, and pretty positive. I will

List my email, feel free to write me!

Thank you, and have a great weekend!!

Glad to see you've locked it down, and got your mind made up. You're gonna do great. Unfortunately I'm a guy, but I'm sure there will be plenty of ladies around.

If you have any questions, send me a pm or list it on the sight. I work for an excellent bariatric surgeon at a center of excellence for years and just decided I needed vsg. So I had one 5/21. But everyone here tries to help and give advice and list their own hardships. It's like a family. Welcome to it

Hi Erika,

I had my VSG 4/4/11. I'm going great. If you have any questions, I would be happy to help in any way I can. This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. It saved my life. I just started running. I never thought I would ever run..LOL I signed up for a 5k in Aug, so its now or never !!! I spend more time on OH than here. So send me a message and we can chat. Jane

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
