Day 3 Of 32 Day Protein Shake Fast - Pre-Op

Recommended Posts

Ok so today is day 3, and the diarrhea is finally gone.

I just entered yesterday's meals into MyFitnessPal and it said - if everyday were like today you'd weigh: 617 pounds in 5 weeks! (starting: 660)

Well if I add in some extra workouts and really push it, I think I can make it to 600 by my surgery - which would be totally cool!

I'm so excited so far, I really need to get started exercising - that's my most dreaded thing though lol.

Day two was a little rough, but today I do feel better, and more focused and less weak.

Congrats! Just keep on pushing, I know the pre-op diet sucks, but it will be SOOO WORTH IT in the long run! Best of luck and well wishes to you!!!

Day 3 and 4 were the hardest for me. I know you probably heard this before but please don't weigh yourself every day or 2 or 3 times a day like I have.

I am on day 11 of 14 day shake and I get excited then disappointed. I weigh every day and seriously....on less than 650 calories a day on 3 shakes gained 2 pounds one day. Seriously, i got so upset. I weighed myself a minute later and gained another pound lol!!! Maybe cause I'm a girl or a freak or whatever, but I jumped on the scale about 5 times and all gave me different weights, I bought new batteries and it did it again, i moved it, I became obsessed with weighing myself.

This morning I hopped on the scale ONCE...and I hit 230 from 233 yesterday (I was 231 days before).

I went from 240 Monday morning, to Tuesday 237, then down and then up and down. It's a mind game. I hear people lose 15-20 pounds on the 2 week shakes and I'm down 10 pounds only and tomorrow I may end up being 233 again. I haven't cheated once, I exercise every day I drink all my Water, I have exercised a few times a day and I keep busy.

What you are doing is great and you should be so proud of yourself. I am really looking forward to your journey.

Wow sounds like a rollercoaster ride..

Yeah.. i looked at the scale today and it was a bit.. unfriendly ...

I've decided no scales till my last pre-op doctor's visit (June 20th). Instead I'm just gonna push it and workout, lift weights, etc.. keep to my 800 calorie diet.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
