Hey guys. Im 6 days out now and had it pretty easy. Everything has gone very well until tonight. I'm having some pain in my upper chest. It feel like its under my sternum and maybe in my esophagus. I'm pretty sure I've walked all the gas out because I really felt it in my shoulders. When I take a deep breath I really feel pressure. Anyone have any ideas? I'm call the doc when the office opens.

Hey. All my gas gathered in my sternum, I had no pain in my shoulders. It could also be reflux, but I reckon it is most likely gas - and it's not comfortable. You'll be fine.

I would probably agree with Polly, but it doesn't hurt to call the doctor's office. Do you have a post-op visit scheduled soon?

I agree with Polly as well. I was in a LOT of chefs pain for the first days due to gas :( but if you think it gets unbearable please call your Dr

Call the dr! Even of its gas, better safe than sorry because it could be a stricture.

A stricture is the tightening of your esophagus at the place it goes into your tummy. The dr puts a tube down your throat and slowly expands it back out.

I agree, call doc. When I was 6 days post op I had been doing great then all of sudden had same symptom you describe and it hurt evendrink Water again. Doc thought it was stricture, so was ordered an egd. No stricture but found out I had gatroparesis, basically my stomach never woke back up and there was a blockage of bile because it was not emptying properly. He put me on a new med to help get the stomach working and a few days later things were back to normal. Better be safe than sorry and call.

I had chest pain 5-7 days from not using my spirometer enough. Once I took regular, deep breaths it went away.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
