I am from Shreveport. I had my surgery 5/18/12 in Dallas, Tx. I paid cash because I don't have insurance. It was cheaper over there.

I was going to have my surgery with Dr. Merriman in Shreveport and the surgery would have been 18,000.- 20,000. I checked around and found an awesome doctor in Carrolton, tx. And he charged 9,995.00. So close to a 10,000.00 difference. His name is Dr Frank Veninga. I highly recommend him and his staff.

I have Aetna. The only In network surgeon I could find is Dr. Jonathan Taylor.

I have Aetana and , sure enough, Dr. Allain isn't in network. :( Where is Dr. Taylor? You like him? I couldn't find ANYONE in-network in BR!

I was self pay and it was 13 k but I wanted a local surgeon in case of complications down the road. A lot of surgeons refuse wls patients later on so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have that issue. I love dr sartor, he's great and the p&s center is like a hotel not a hospital lol!!

Yes, Dr. Jonathan Taylor is "in network" for me with Aetna. He works out of Baton Rouge Clinic, but I saw him at Womans. I really liked him. Out of network for me was going to be about $2500, supposedly, in network will be $250.00. I'm still waiting for his office to verify this for me, so I have my fingers crossed!

I'd love to know what his office says about being in-network if you don't mind sharing! I'll have to pay out-of-network deductible of $1250 and then 30% of Dr. Allain's fee which for a total of about $3200!! :o

He said that he is an in network general surgeon. I hope to hear a final word from his office this week. I will surely let you know.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
