I caved midway through pre-op and ate my entire kitchen. I started fresh the next day and everything was fine. My doctor never even asked me if I'd followed the pre-op diet! I coulda slacked the whole time and wouldn't have even had to fess up about it. If it was that important' date=' you'd think he would've made sure I'd followed the plan.[/quote']

Girl I did the same thing! I felt so guilty and scared that my dr would see that I didn't follow it and aboard the surgery until I saw where people cheated. Haha.

I definitely don't want to be the one that has to say....I had to reschedule after my Dr. closed me because I didn't follow his instructions, I would be too humiliated and embarrassed to come here or admit it to anyone. I would hate to see someone read all the stories of cheating and getting away with it, and be the one that loses out on the surgery because I read everyone else get away with it.

I started my 14 day pre-op 3 shakes a day today, I don't get any solid food. Just sugar-free Jello, sugar-free popsicles and crystal light. I know I am going to want to cheat, but if I cheat, that to me is setting me up for the ability to cheat in the future, the cheating and overeating is one of the main factors that got me to this point in my life where I feel a surgery, which all surgeries are dangerous, is my only way off the diet roller coaster. I'm not preaching, I'm trying to get it in my head that just because other people cheat and get away with it, doesn't mean I could or I should.

No way that you messed up too bad. But this pre-op is a good time to learn that every time that you overeat post-op comes with a big risk of big negative impact. One extra bite or a meal eaten too quickly can result in immediate chest pain, difficulty breathing, nausea, and your mouth and throat filling with mucous. Now go out there and get your dream sleeve...you'll be glad you did!

@MinaT I cannot have aspartame either. I bought Knox Gelatin and added 4C diet drink mix ( it contains sucralose ).

Edy's has sugar free ( also sucralose ) ice pops.

Hope that helps.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
