I know exactly how you feel my surgery is on May 23rd and I go through my moments of saying that I should just back out but I know I'm doing this for my health so I just pray on it....Good Luck Keep positive thoughts and please let us know how you are doing post-op!

I have a June surgery date and feel the same way. It must be normal because it sure seems like everyone has experienced it. One minute I'm great and feel positive about the future and the next minute I feel like crying. Maybe it's because I feel like a wimp cuz I'm afraid of the pain and afraid that I won't be able to drink enough Water or get enough protien...But the reason we are hear posting is for the support of the people who have been in our shoes and when you see the results they have experienced I want those same results! I try to focus on where I will be this time next year... hopefully sitting comfortably on a plane jetting to some special vacation and not having to worry about seat belt extensions or spilling over onto the seat next to me.

All of this reminds me of a quote I heard in a Franklin Covey class - "if you always do what you always did, you will always get what your always got". I NEED to make the change!

Hi everyone.. I am new to all this forum stuff and have never registered in one before! I am thinking about going to tj Mexico to have the gastric sleeve done .. They want to book me for June but I think I want a later date!! Lol sometimes I feel yes this is what I am gonna do and then I start researching the Internet about the Doctor and things that can go wrong post surgery.. And I get terrified... And with going through dr almanza I only meet him the day of surgery ... So no real per opt visits... Because I am self paying.. Is there other places I can go in the USA to get this done for around 5000. :) I am from Canada !

JCool, I am not aware of any places in the U.S. that do it for that price. I think that is why so many people are going to Mexico. If you don't feel comfortable with Dr. Almanza, there are a number of other doctors in Mexico and their prices are roughly the same. You might check them out. But I think you will find that you won't have pre-op visits with any of them. You might want to visit your primary care physician to address any medical concerns that you have beforehand if you think that will give you comfort. I also encourage you to ask the coordinator in Dr. Almanza's lots of questions.

I actually am going to Dr. Almanza and am totally comfortable with and confident in him and his practice. I know that there are a number of people here who have gone to him and can tell you about their experiences.

You might try entering his name in the search feature. Lots of folks have commented on their experience with him. As expected, there is a mixture of good and bad comments. But I am excited about going to him.

Oh How I remember the night before my surgery. They day before Dec 6th I had to get everything ready for my sister in law to take care of our three kids and then my hubby and I had to drive 3 hours to the hospital. We stayed the night in a hotel. The hotel (which we had no idea about) was nestled between train tracks a harbor and an airport. As you can imagine I got no sleep...neither did hubby. I prayed a lot. The next morning I was SO calm. I had been frightened of pain, being put asleep, the finality of the surgery...etc. But that day was so different. God was with me and He is with you. I will pray for you Delta...I am asking God to give you peace today and tomorrow, I am asking God to bring you through surgery with out any complications. I am praying that you will have the best care from the doctor you have to the nursing staff that will enter your room. I am asking God to give you amazing results and when you are at goal I am praying you will see the glory of our King and give Him all the glory!

So tomorrow at 12:30, I will be sleeved by Dr. Nain of BluePoint Sugerical Group. I started this journey excited and determined to be successful in getting approved. To my surprise, it was not hard at all. Now I am right at the door of surgery, and am thinking about not showing up. I have no clue why I am scared, I have a strong belief in God and I already prayed about this surgery so deep down I know it will be okay. I guess I am just nervous about being put to sleep and being sick afterwards. Then there is also the burden that my mind plays on me, which keeps telling me that this will be like all the other diets: Not Successful. I have no one really to talk to about this, because I chose to only tell 3 people about it, with one only being a close family member. I just pray that I get some rest tonight and that everything goes smoothly tomorrow morning when it’s time to leave for the hospital....

LOL I am 4 months out and scared to death I hope your around to comfort me when my day comes (sept 12th) I over think everything anyway. But I will say everytime I say I am not sure if I can go through with this the next time I look at a picture of me I say oh yes I am and everytime I eat to much I say oh yes I am. You will be fine My wife calls me a chicken she is 5'1" and 105lbs soaking wet and me at 5'10" and 345lbs. She will say she has had two c-sections and her gall bladder removed so I need to suck it up. LOL. We will all be praying for you.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
