I heard good things about chia seeds. I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet and I cheated. I had half a piece of cheese pizza and I licked a spoon of mashed potatoes while cooking them for my son....I definetly am more hungry today and have a head ache. Tomorrow will be better :)

Don't cheat! This is a life or death kind of thing. Its the difference between the doctor stapling a piece of leather....or a sponge! Sponges leak!

And if you do cheat, stick to straight Protein. No carbs!!!!!!!! Our doc does an Atkins indication verses a liquid diet pre op (which I think is easier than liquid). Th.e carbs will kill ya, but a taste of a very nice piece of crab or steak could satisfy even if it isn't on your program...but probably won't effect your surgery as much. :). Best not to do it at all but when tempted...think meat!

Good morning ladies =) So, today is a holy batman busy day. Our Japanese exchange student is coming. Which is pretty FREAKIN' exciting! Actually, I wanted to have my surgery next week, but because of my schedule I booked it for the end of summer lol. Wow, I got my final confirmation last night. It kind of made me chuckle. It's like really really, not kidding kidding, you are getting sleeved August 27th lol. So, now I am in the thick of er. My August schedule is so slammed packed that I won't have a chance to ponder anything till I get home from Mexico. We have an exchange student till the 20th of Aug. There is camp for the girls, umm my birthday (last one as a chunky momma so stoked for that!) , we have to buckle down and work on harvesting my garden hopefully before we go. I have to do my canning, prep for post op and start my pre op. Visit my family....joy.... All my sugery stuff is done except an appt next week with my doc. Oh, dang and two weddings!

Are you guys slamming your calendar to keep busy so that way you don't overthink everything? I am doing good at night so far, the jitters have seemed to leave me alone since I got the sniffles the other day.

Lol I had to giggle at Iggychick's post this morning...she is totally right in her resolve, maybe I am just tired at six a.m. but I pictured a band of women on the hunt for fair game lol. I love how this group is well intentioned and kind to one another.

I still have only told a hand full of girlfriends and three family members. Is that the norm in here?

So, as far as the liquid living goes, I must confess it's easy to sit and be glum about what we CAN'T have. So, I am thinking about all the things I love that is on the list instead lol. I LOVE green jello! I also am happy I can have crystal lite Popsicles, I am going to use a colander and cheese cloth and boil down veggies for my broth so I get the nutrients of them all. That will be fun, as my hubby is going to be like " Say WHAT?!" lol his expression is going to make this more fun =) Actually last night, he wouldn't let me make coffee lol. We had a mini food funeral last night, for chocolate ice cream, and it was funny, I don't even LIKE ice cream lol. You know when you think oh man, I am going to miss that. So, I was thinking that at the market yesterday and it was on sale for a dollar! So, I was like okay a treat for the whole family. So, I eat like four bites and that thick in your throat feeling happens and I am like, THIS is why I don't eat ice cream lol. I NEVER eat ice cream, maybe two cones a year lol. So, that made me happy, because I officially WONT miss ice cream. Eventually , I will be able to eat baked apples with splenda and cinnamon and get my fix of apple pie. I am doing okay ;)

Wow , I have a busy brain this morning lol, anyways, I just thought I would share that. I hope you are all having a fantabulous day! Full of sunshine, and positive thoughts =) and positive people in your midst =)

I have let my family know how important it is for me to do good on my pre op diet for the remaining days. I read how great everyone else has been, without any trouble, and I am not sure what my problem is!

LeprechaunMomma,

You seem like the person that lights up the life of everyone around you. I think we all need a little more of that. How blessed your family is to have you.

Awww, that totally made my day. THANK YOU! Actually, it was the perfect time for that as BOTH my kids are literally growling at me that they want to sleep more lol. I think you are pretty darn awesome as well =)

How is your morning going? I broke down and had a giant beautiful cup of coffee this morning. But, I am on track for the rest of the day. I wish my preop started sooner and that I could just rocket through it. I see how amazing and conscientiousness everyone is on here, and I am having food funerals lol. It's like the Jackal-ope says. " You still have a body, good legs, and fine feet. Get your head in the right place, and hey your complete!" tee hee hee. I have that picture in my bathroom and in my pantry lol. I love the Jackal-ope he is such a smart critter. Have a groovy day ladies =D I will be thinking of you as I scrub down this crazy house =)

I hope this is okay to share. But my feelings regarding the surgery have been jumping from excited to darn right frightened, as I know they do for many of us. A few weeks ago, I had some family over and I was mentioning my fears and how I don't want to leave my son behind. Well, yesterday evening my husband went out and got the mail and there was an envelope from my grandma. Inside was a little placard that said "When you expect miracles to happen, miracles will happen.' and then on the back she wrote a nice message about how she prays for me every day and that she wants me to have strength and BELIEVE IN MY HEART that everything will be okay. I read it and just broke down. My poor husband didn't know what to do with me. LoL

But after reading that I was filled with a sense of peace that I haven't had yet. So many things have fallen into place to make this surgery possible for me. I have to believe that it's meant to be.

Yes I'm trying to fill my time up and leave no stone unturned for distractions. I can get obsessive so the peeling of the old wall paper in my kitchen that I've put off for months is getting done at last. I bought paint for the living room, that's next. I start the pre-op diet on Monday. I love the positive vibe of this group! Have a great day ladies. Just 32 days to go until surgery :)

What a beautiful message. Can I borrow your Grandma? Thanks for sharing that. It's true that things have fallen in to place for me as well, so fast that it makes my head spin.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
