Recommended Posts

Well today is my day due in at the hospital at 700am slept okay till 230 then have tossed and turned and dozed since! Wind is really bad in melbourne so that is to partially blame for my lack of sleep! Lol I am excited to have this done little nervous but hey I guess that's normal! See you guys on the flip side!

Good Luck my thoughts will be with you

Dean, you are my hero! You look and must feel fantastic. Just think -- in 12 months you will be even more fit instead of what used to happen 12 months after you went off a diet!

Exactly Misty! I've been watching your running progress .......... you're a runner!!

I saw the meet up a little while ago. I have my Dad coming up from Sydney for 2 days' date=' flying back Saturday afternoon. I thought about dragging him and the family down and they could wander off and do something while I met you guys for a coffee, but I think it might be a bit much travelling for the old boy in one day :([/quote'] that's understandable. Enjoy your family time.

Sorry we won't get to meet you on Saturday. Maybe next time. I am moving to the Gold Coast in early December so hopefully we can catch up separately. Cheers, Kelli

I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather (at least in Brisbane).

I'm stuck at home finishing up prep for colonoscopy/endoscopy at 12:30. Lots of reading time. I was worried about the amount of fluids I would have to drink with my sleeve but it hasn't been a problem at all. This is the first time I have used PicoPrep and no troubles. I won't go into detail obviously! I just hope they find something and it's fixable.

Who was asking for book recommendations? I had forgotten about another one I am part of the way through, called Eat it Up. It's great. I think it's a good idea to use the first year post-op to learn as much as we can about why we ate the way we did and what food did for us, and find other coping mechanisms. You really won't need them much the first year (from what I have read and seen on this board) but if you put in the hard mental and emotional "exercise" you will have solid habits when you do need them further down the track.

I keep having to remind myself that there is life after losing weight. I never got there before but this time I will. I want to get off the roller coaster at the bottom and stay off, and not ride back up to the top yet again.

I hope that didn't sound preachy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
