Dean, I just had to go to Roma Street Police headquarters! I wonder if I saw you and didn't know it. I lost my work badge and someone handed it in to the police station, which is pretty amazing to me. Constable Shaw contacted my company and held it for me. Above and beyond!

Anyone see Insight a few weeks ago when they discussed weight loss surgery?

Anyone remember that bitter woman whose surgery failed her and in her eyes, everyone failed her?

Well she'll be on The Project tonight. Get ready to bombard their Twitter and Facebook pages with our positive stories.

Lissa ' date='I'm just going back through old posts when you were first starting and Aussie girl was giving you advice having lost so much. And look- here you are ,All that weight gone. Its so inspiring.I hate exercise but I am walking everyday for 1/2 hour as back is still bad.I hope I can get the urge to exercise as much as you. Also I have never been one to go to a gym as I am embarrassed to be unfit and so big(109kg)will people judge me.How did you get past this thought,[/quote']

Thanks Cathy :) I always hated exercise!! It's only recently that I have really started to love it. I did the gym thing etc but it didn't work for me or my lifestyle. So I went to an exercise physiologist so I could start out working out at home. I started off really slow and as I have felt better tried other things. The yoga I do is a DVD called Yogalosophy and I love it!! I have only recently started the jogging so I will see how it goes. I am liking it though!!

Aussiegirl gave you great advice- she always does ! I think though to start slow but don't give up!!

Thanks Sue & Kelli for the advice on my hair loss. I am a 50+ plus & have also continued to dye my hair too but I will get som Sillica & hope that helps.

I continued to colour my hair. It sorted itself out and I think having a varied diet and taking a good multi Vitamin helped, but I didn't take anything else. I am also over 50.

Morning all.

Reminder Sydneysiders, catch up from 6.30 tonight at Darling Harbour, Margaritaville. Send me or Sue a message and we can give you deets.

In regards to hair, I lost a lot, from about 3.5 months to about 9 months. It has grown back and is now at my ears length. At the moment it looks I have a mullet at the moment.

I didn't take anything for it and have still dyed it but went back to my natural colour to help deal with it and keep it consistent.

Hi everyone.Well, I am on day one of the preop modified very low calorie diet and hoping that two Optifast meals a day won't give me a rash or violent tummy problems.(If anyone else here is interested I can post the modified preop diet for people who are reactive to the opti). My three year old curious son who always wants to eat what I do is very puzzled. He is slurping on a milo dessert he wanted because I was soldiering thru a Optifast choc dessert for lunch-he is so cute :)

Dr Mosse is still ordering urgent tests for me even tho the surgery date is in 2 weeks.I have to have an oesphageal manometry test now (to check for swallowing problems). So his final words to me on Mon were to start the diet, fill in the hospital paperwork and consent, but that he may not do the operation! He is so thorough I have already spent over $1000 on tests alone.

Trying to stay positive and really appreciating reading this forum.

Good luck! I hope all of the tests are fine and that you react well to your modified diet. I know that when I did the Optifast program with the Wesley last year, they had an Optifast option or a non-Optifast option which was only very lean meat and non-starchy vegetables, and under 1000 calories a day. I chose to do the Optifast but apparently the other program works too. It would probably shrink your liver too. You would just have to take a Multivitamin. So if this doesn't work for you then maybe you can go to your doctor with that suggestion. The two weeks will fly by!

I started using a cup with a straw and I can get my Water in so much better! I drank two 16-ounce cups of just Water yesterday! Plus my coffee. I know that's not enough but it's loads better than I was doing before. It is 3:30 today and I have just finished my first 16-ounce cup. It is the plastic double-walled ones that look like a soft drink cup, but are permanent. It even has a hard plastic straw.

Thanks misty.Yes I am on one non- starchy vege, lean meat and low dairy meal a day plus a Centrum supp for women. So it sounds like the options you were given for liver shrinkage.I already have a headache so I know I am on track so far.Lol!

Good news about your Water intake - you are so determined to do this properly.

Hi All

Great evening at Margaritaville' date=' Darling Harbour, Sydney - just myself and Aussiegirl! I hope more Sydneysiders are able to make it next time![/quote']

You both look gorgeous. I would never guess you were ever overweight at all! And the drinks look fab.

Did anyone in Brisbane notice the sunset!? I saw this photo of it on Facebook. Sorry I can't link to the original. It really looked like this.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
