How Are All The May Sleevies Holding Up?

Recommended Posts

Wow you are doing great. Congratulations all I have been having is crystal light energy and Jello

Jello is actually the only thing that's made me want to throw up so far! The hospital loved to give Carnation Instant Breakfast, but I could only get about 1oz of that down before it was repulsing me. I've been drinking a ton of Crystal Light and ice Water. pudding, in minuscule increments, is agreeing with me. Danactiv light is GREAT, at least so far. It's not sugar free, but only has 4gm of sugar. For a soothing liquid, with Protein and one that's lightweight, it seems like a winner. It's just 3 ounces, so that takes me about 35 minutes, at this point at least.

I live in Beaumont Katyb!!

My mom actually lives in Silsbee, but no one has ever heard of that place, so it's easier to say Beaumont!

Sounds like everyone's doing well! I was sleeved on the 1st as well. And sounds a lot like katy's story. That liquid loritab was awesome stuff! They sent me home with demerol pills which were good too. I am slighlty worried about the bowel movement issue. THey said i should have had one on day 2.... but that was yesterday and still nothing. Anyone else have this problem??

Everyone seems to be doing great. Just met with the dietation today, but she told me I can have a meal, since I am diabetic. I ate one the minute I got home and cherished every carrot, bean and other goodies. I am getting over my nervousness, because so many people have said this is the best decision of their life. I slept through the night. When you did your upper GI did they take you on a ride?

I started my pre-op dieet on the 1st. I had some tough days' date=' but I'm feel pretty good now.

I feel very busy right now. I've got all my usual stuff, plus a stack of pre-op appointments and this and that. That's good. Being busy means I spend less time worrying. ;)[/quote']

Anyone having sleeve done at morristown hospital?

I have 13 more days!! Surgery is May 17th! I start my Pre-op on Monday. It's 2 Protein Shakes & lean cuisine for dinner with sf Popsicles, etc. I am beyond excited! This is everything to me - I'm refinancing my home to have this. I'm convinced this surgery is going to save my life! I wish my insurance would have covered it, but oh well. I'm so glad to hear you're all doing well! My day is coming!

I don't have a drain either. I have read that some doctors put a drain in. Anyone know why some do and some don't??

I heard Dr Kelly used to do a drain, but no longer does a drain. I am kind of happy I am not getting a drain!

I think it is just personal preference. Some Drs like it to see if there is a leak. I know Dr Kelly does at least one leak test after surgery & heard he may do 2 during surgery too. So maybe he feels that is enough I guess?

The lean cuisine's are GREAT! I used those for my pre-op diet too. I haven't found one that i didn't like. THey are filling and very tasty!!I I'm on Day 4 after surgery and feeling really good. I could actually sleep on my side last night. About to go walking again. Still not the least bit hungry and haven't had any solid food for a week! Dr. also found a hiatal hernia (apparently a nice one) and repaired it.... so, I got a 2 for 1 deal!! :)

The head hunger is not bad now when I'm not hungry. I watched my son eat a piece of pizza last night. For a split second I wanted to take a huge bite, chew it, and then spit it out. But my husband talked me out of it! Told me that it wasn't that great.... tasted like cardboard. Hey, I love cardboard! HAHAHA

I'm off most of the pain meds now.... just taking them at night to get a full night's sleep. And, i'm having a 1/2 cup of black coffee right now. Tastes like the best coffee in the world! Oh, and I was 6 lbs up from before surgery (prob from all the fluids by IV), and today i'm 2 pounds down from pre-surgery! So, I drink drink drink and it gets easier!

Hope you all are doing well!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
