Chris,

I think it would be very helpful. I am not very confident with a group class or a trainer that doesn't understand me. I would agree on don't forget where you were at one time, it will help you relate to your clients on a more personal level

Absolutely! I have a feature at my gym to work with a personal trainer once a month. I still (6 months later) haven't done so because I'm intimidated by working with someone who doesn't understand my body and my different approach to working out. It's waaaay harder to move with the extra weight on my frame. I would totally apprciate someone like you! Good luck-great idea!

I also think it would be great to have a trainer who knows that there are unique challenges for someone who has had bariatric surgery. You'd understand that we're NOT being wimpy when we tell you that we don't have the strength to do something like the pull-ups mentioned above. You also would "get" that there are health issues that may not show because we've lost weight, but that still have to be addressed. And, you will get that cardio is more important, initially anyway, than pumping huge amounts of Iron.

Good luck!! :)

I would LOVE to have someone here where I live to work with that had "been there". I don't currently work out at a gym because of that simple fact. I think you would be a great inspiration to others, and I think it will go a loooong way to help motivate and encourage others when they know your story. I think turning your life around in this way and using it to help others is awesome!!

From my personal point of view i would rather have a trainer who has gone through a weightloss journey similar to mine. It gives me comfort in knowing that they can relate to my feelings and also my physical ability and i would be so much more comfortable to openly discuss my weightloss issues with such an individual so go for it and help others achieve what you did.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
