Starting The Journey

Recommended Posts

April 10th went to seminar for Dr. Bilton in Tuscaloosa, Al only to find out after I paid the $75 that the sleeve isn't done there yet and I'm not about to be one of the first in.

April 21st I went to Dr. Dewitt's FREE (lol) seminar in Birmigham, Al. I have to get my 3 years of recorded weight and height as well as recent blood work faxed. Already sent cardio work up. Will have to do physc eval but that should be it.

I got on May 9th for the in off consultation and work up for anything else I may be required to do then my submittal to insurance will begin.

I'm excited, nervous and scared all at the same time. I have 2 young children to care for while my husband works out of state and my family lives in another state.

I have been over weight all my life. I've been picked on, laughed at and felt unworthy of love. I have been blessed with a life I never thought i'd have. Im tried of holding back and not enjoying to the fullest bc of size or embarrassment. I want to do things I never could before, run and play with my kids. Feel attractive and most off all do all I can to ensure that I am healthier to be around for them.

Too many emotions

Ashley

First, my heart goes out to you for all the pain you've endured. I am newly sleeved (4/23). I congratulate you on making this decision and taking charge of your life. You're right, you need to get healthy and play/run with your kids. You've come to the right place on this forum -you'll find so much support and caring here. Good luck on your journey.

Congratulations on deciding to do what you think will make your life improve. I just got sleeved 4 weeks ago tomorrow and I am very happy so far. I also have 2 small children at home. I would say that by one week post-op, I was back to normal at home with the exception of needing help with diaper changes on my 2 year old because we are not supposed to lift until 4 - 6 weeks post-op. Good luck and best wishes to you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
