Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 4/23...and the thought of some food is making me want to vomit. broth is one of them I just had to dump out a large tub of it because every time I open my fridge I get sick. I was fine with it up until yesterday..Does this happen to anyone else?

Oh, yes! I cannot tell you how many tubs of yogurt, muscle milk , and other stuff I threw out! The very smell of them would make me want to hurl! Lol. This too shall pass. ( still can't stand any of the above).

Yes, it is normal. My garbage disposal was busy early on with stuff that made me green to smell it. Also, sometime I would start to eat something and it was fine, then it would suddenly NOT be OK. It will get better.

Now the only things I can't eat now are BBQ, much raw celery, milk, ice cream, fluffy breads, Pasta, carbonated beverages, super spicy food and much sweets / desert. Everything else is OK.

Oh no, you're definitely not alone. Unjury chocolate Splendor which I HAD thought tasted just like chocolate milk, today suddenly tasted like chalk. Beef broth also tasted wonderful 2 days ago, not so good today...... I ordered some Syntrax Nectar strawberry Kiwi and Protein To Go french vanilla latte shots which should be here Tuesday, I'm hoping those will taste okay.

I have the same problem. I transition to purée on Monday and went shopping and stocked up on what sounded good today at the store.

Early on I struggled with my taste buds changing. Now at 6 3/4 th months out, I don't have those experiences any more. ;)

I know what you are saying!

Here's how I am getting through it...I found Protein powder at costco 100% whey made by Cytosport. It is $44 for a 6lb bag. My hubby has been adding it to all of my pudding, nestle Breakfast mix, and yogurt. It's 27g Protein with almost no sugar or carbs.

Also, try switching your prescription to Oxycodone. I was nauseated at the taste of Tylenol, but I just take the Oxycodone once a day and it takes out the pain pretty well.

My surgery was April 20th.

I am almost one month out and cannot stand any of the protein!!!! It's killing me to choke it down, and I sometimes do a no-no and skip on of them.... I get to start food on Monday. I hope I can work up to mostly food really soon so I can ditch the protein! Hang in there and good luck :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
