I'm Already Sexy.. Should I Get The Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I have been through every emotion in the past 8 months when I started getting ready for this surgery. The only thing that has remained is the fact that I think for the most part I have very positve self image. I already think I am like one of the sexiest people on earth. lol. Well maybe not on Earth- but I think I have a curvacious body and I am afraid I will not like the skinny me.

I do think my husband will love me either way... but besides health and sometimes feeling like the fat girl I am really scared I will hate a me that is smaller than a size 12. I mean honestly I may be 244 pounds in a very TIGHT size18 and probably will only get back heavier like I was before... but atleast my skin is tight and I look healthy. WIll I look sick with loose skin flapping all around? Will my long beautiful hair think out and lack luster? ((sigh))

SORRY I know I am going on and on... but is anybody in the same boat?

I am 280 in a 5'5 body. You could ask any of my friends, family and myself, I am a very confident person. I truly love myself. I don't have self image problems more then skinny Jean next door. I also am very healthy. The only thing that my weight causes is heartburn now and again. I personally am getting it because how many heavy older people do u see in nursing homes. How many 80 and older heavy people do u see? Not a lot. If we continue on a road like we r it will have major consequences. I personally don't want to miss the sleeve bus and regret it. If u feel good about urself now imagine how u will feel when u and ur husband can do more 'naughty' things because you don't weight as much :) I have talked to a lot of people and some that have weighed over 300 hardly had any loose skin and looks amazing. U need to make the best decision for u. It took me 2 years to come to mine. Good luck...if u do decide to do surgery ill save ya a seat on the looser bench and I want to hear how u r doing ;)

I totally understand what you are saying. I have decided to get the sleeve, but only because I know that my health outweighs my vanity. I am 5'10 314, with a very shapely body and a small stomach. No one ever thinks that I am over 300lbs, and not many feel my pain of being over 300lbs.

I tore my achilles tendon in November and have heel spurs, knee and back pain. I cannot climb more than 2 flights without losing my breath and feeling lightheaded. I can no longer wear high heels for longer than 10 minutes without feeling immense pain. I don't like dancing anymore because I start sweating profusely (which my doctor claims is due to my weight). My father had diabetes before dying and my mother has high blood pressure and cholesterol in additon to severe arthritis.

BUT I AM SEXY AS HELL! LOL

Not going to get into it much, but I have been to nude beaches and nudist resorts and have no problem being nude. I see a beautiful woman that has some "slight" imperfections in my mirror each morning. I am worried that my skin and breasts will sag and that I will hate looking at myself. I worry that my slight insecurities will turn into major insecurities preventing me from being happy and thus sabotoging my journey. I will be paying out of my pocket and worry that I will not have the funds available in 2-3 years to have plasitc surgery.

I am having the surgery - my mind is made up. My health is more important especially since I have 2 children that depends on me to be there. Write it down, what you feel are the advantages and disadvantages of the surgery. I know you will make the right decision for yourself.

Thank God for this website. I really needed to hear that. I too go to nude beaches and am very comfortable with the look of my body. But prayerfully I won;'t have sagging skin and if I do I will get the money for plastic surgery somehow!

And also about the 300 pounds and 80?.... I probably won;t see 65 going at the rate I am going. The image thing is the last thing I need to get over thanks for the support!

@LezieLez.... when are you getting the surgery?

Yes, looking sexy has nothing to with the underlying factors of being overweight. Obesity is kiilling us and our children, I decided to get the surgery at 248 the heaviest in my life because I needed to do something. Now I am 198 lbs size 7/8 sexy as heck but almost 200lbs is still unhealthy so I will lose 30-40 more lbs. Good luck.

My insurance plan with the company I work for changed at the beginning of the year and it now excludes wls. I was in month 5 of my 6 month pre-op diet and planning on a March sleeve. Now I have to pay out of pocket and am debating on going for a loan and trying for May/June or waiting until next year (tax return) and paying cash.

The only thing is that the loan would be for $8500 vs paying $5000 out of pocket a few months later. I am just anxious and impatient - I want to be on the losers bench now!

That is terrible! I went through the same scare at the beginning of the year thinking I wasn't going to be covered. I know it must have really sucked to be in this position after that much work. I hopw that you find a way to get the money up soon. Honestly, if I were you I'd get the loan and get it over with already.

I was thinking about that too! I am driving myself crazy, and lately have had some depressed moments where the only thing that calmed me was "Coldstone Creamery Therapy". However, I am an analyst and my job is to save our clients money so I am constantly looking at the financial aspect.

BeLiteWeight is charging $8500 with $3500 down. I will have the $3500 in June. Two other surgeons are charging $5000 with no financing. Paying an additional $1500 is far more attractive than paying $5000 plus interest. I will let you know what I decide.

I get it. Totally get it. And I admire your self confidence! My husband, bless him, tells me I'm beautiful and sexy every single day. But I don't want to be beautiful and sexy with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease or worse in a casket. Now that this is actually a reality rather than just a possibility, I've definitely thought about the vanity part. Trading in my "cushion" for loose skin, losing my boobs, looking like a bobble head (I have a big ass head LOL). But really, if all of that happens it's worth it for me to be around to be a grandma for my daughters' children, to have a long loving marriage with my best friend, and to check off all the things on my list if "things I'll do when I'm normal-sized".

I can promise you, along with others on the boards, that you wont be disappointed with Dr. Rodriguez or the Star Medica Hospital! Good luck with your journey!!! It is sooo worth every penny no matter who you go with!!!! :)

If anything, I think it's great that you have such a positive self-image! I think it will save you from all kinds of unrealistic expectations and the disappointment that comes with them (and unnecessary plastic surgery!). Also, you will not lose your overall shape.....if you are an hourglass or pear now, you will still tend towards that bodyshape after losing weight, so you won't look like a teenage boy.

I too, have crazy self confidence. I have never felt unattractive or like I am "fat" really. I have always been extremely happy with my body. I wear skinnies, I wear heels, I wear whatever and feel good in it!

I did this surgery not to become skinny, but to become healthy. I knew that I wasn't going to stop gaining and who knows where it would have ended or how bad I could have gotten.

Honestly, I don't plan on getting to a size 4 or even a 6. I would be content with a 10 or 12, I feel great at a 20 already. :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
