1 Week Post Op Lets Chat

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

So just a quick improtu chat......

Sleeved 4/9

S/W 239

C/W 221

Ok let's talk fluids......getting more today than probably ever. I have had the hardest time figuring out what is a full liquid what is a clear liquid and so I went to Jason's Deli and got the small cup of cheddar broccoli Soup on day 5. Was it good nope it was delicious, but that is what made me think it was probably not only too early but also not good for me so I had a total of about 8 teaspoons over 2 days. I went back to Walmart got more sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello cups and crystal light packets for my Water and I must say today has been a good day. I did not finish the jello cup, but have been enjoying it and will try it for my nightly snack at around 8:45 pm. For dinner going to try some soup not cream based no cheese just some soup that is mainly broth....boo

Reflux......let's just say will be asking doc to call in nexium in the morn. I have tried tums but i have what I have been reading is the vsg version of heartburn constantly whether I eat, drink or do neither. So if you get that chest pain in between your breast bone and it has been confirmed as a gerd condition PLEASE let me know!

Incisions.....ok call me cooky but I still have my band aids on! I am scared that if I remove them I am removing my security blannket that ensures all is well. So if you have safely removed all tape and band aids please let me know it is ok. Some get loose in the shower and I act is though they are a wounded soilder I am protecting on the battle field. Starting to feel silly.

Activity....drove about 10 miles on day 5 and today day 7 resumed the normal activities of dropping the kids off to daycare and going to the store so business as usual. I can clean the house but too much bending over too far makes my incisions hurt and I still take it easy with my turning.

Numbers.....18 pounds gone as of today day 7 aka week 1. Yayyy there is a noticeable difference in appearance and clothes so not complaining but worried that it might be because I was slightly in starvation mode....anywho happy for that tremendous lost and any loss this week will be welcomed, however I realisticly know that not only is it not safe it is not 100% feasible to expect those types of #'s so I would be the overjoyed with 5#'s ecstatic with 9#'s which would be half of what I lost this week!

Things I probably should not have done........there are quite a few so I will number them

1. Ate a piece of the individually little snack pieces of low fat cheese ( it was at least 6g of protein)

2. Had a smoothie from burger king (it is supposed to be low in sugar maybe sugar free but it tasted too good)

3. Jason's Deli Cheddar broccoli soup ( nuff said)

4. sucked 3 little cheetos until they were mush ( I really just wanted to test my taste buds )

5. tried activia yogurt ( it had the fruit pieces that are tiny so while i know i can have the activia and I need it I give this 1 a ?)

6. Tried refried Beans ( not sure about this one either)

Ok so I think that is it! I would love to hear from everybody lets share our progress, short comings and achievements all in fun. Oh yeah my ticker is wrong so will create a new one with accurate progress lol

Hello sleeve sister!! I was also on 4/9 and am feeling great. My only gripe right now is this incision pain. But other than that I'm getting all my fluids in. The last 2 days I allowed my self some creamed Soup. Omg was it delicious. I doctored it up with spices. I've lost about 7 lbs post op so far. I'm really not getting alot of calories in. Mostly their coming from my 1 Protein a day in the morning. The rest of the day is Powerade and crystal light. My doc instructed 2 weeks of liquids post op. so I'm sticking to that. But all in all so far so good!!!!

Ok Kcage I feel like we went down same road, I could not stomach the Clear Liquids at all I would gag. So on the 6 day post op I went to Soups. Creamed chicken, I even had a boiled egg, then I had scrambled egg for Breakfast on 8 days. I tried to go back to the protien shakes but they wouldn't sit well. I have had cheese enchiladas no tortilla of course I had chicken nuggets, grilled. Lots of retried Beans, egg drop Soup, cottage cheese and this morning I had about 1/3 cup of oatmeal. I see my dr tomorrow and I'm sure he will be upset with me, but nothing I have eaten has harmed me. So wish me luck and he doesn't kill me

I was sleeved on 4/11. My surgeon has me starting mushies on Thursday, can't wait. I have been good getting my Protein and Water in the last two days. I hate the feeling of liquids going down, feels so weird. I wonder if that is because it is swollen or will this be my new normal?

My large incision hurts. I still have the tape on it but no gauze bandages. When I take a shower I Saran wrap my tummy. I go see my doc Thursday.

I have cued on 3 jolly ranchers because I just needed something to keep m mouth moist. I have not wanted food at all but tonight I did lick three tostitos lime flavored chips, they were good, well the seasoning was good, had to thow the chip away!

I am 6 days out today. Eating Soups, mushy food and Jello. Hard to drink Water so I am working on increasing my Fluid intake.

My staples come out Wednesday and I am glad these incisions itch like heck.

Tomorrow will be my first day back at work. Excited but scared. Got all my fluids and soups packed.

Have a good night everyone.

Wow much different than what my doctor wants. I was sleeved 4/9 also. Was 298 day of surgery, today I am 285. Nothing at all but clear liquids. My doctor also wants me to wait til day 22 before trying some soft foods or creamed Soups. Not even any Protein yet til day 8. I guess all doctors are different.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
