When I made my initial visit to my surgeon's office, he gave me information about a support website calle RealizeMySuccess.com. It allows you to track you intake of calories and vital nutrients from the food you eat. It also allows you to track your weight lost and inches lost and present it in graph form. It is a great site, but sadly, I got notice yesterday that it will be shutting down on May 30. I would like to find a similar website that is user friendly and does what this one does. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've been using myfitnesspal.com for a couple of weeks, and find it very user friendly. Also, I bought a fitbit (it is a digital pedometer that downloads to your computer), and it works in tandum with myfitnesspal.com. It adds my activity into the formula to tell me I can consume more calories. Which is all good pre-surgery.

I joined one called www.sparkpeople.com. Check it out! It's free and seems to be what you are looking for. This is a site my nutrionist recommended.

Yes, myfitnesspal was another recommendation. How do you like your fitbit? I have been looking into them lately.

I love my fitbit, Courtney. It works on wifi, and I just have to get close to my computer and it downloads the day of data. I got the ultra for $99. It records your sleep, as well. But I've not yet figured out how to do that. I'm a bit slow with technology. There is no charge for myfitnesspal, either. It is so easy to look up and find foods. I find it far better than the Weight Watchers site I used to pay for!

ShapeShifter,

Oh yes, the wonderful world of Weight Watchers on-line. I found that too so much time because you needed to figure out your own points, etc. SparkPeople has a huge dictionary of food programmed in. I just need to know how much I ate/drank and it figures everything out for me.

Fitbit sounds great! I'm going to consider purchasing one soon. I am 7 days postop today. I moving, but not like heavy walking moving. Maybe once I get cleared to do that, I will invest in one. Thanks!!

Is Fitbit an iPhone app? There is a free download in the iTunes store...

I don't have an iphone, so I'm not sure. The fitbit I have is a small device that you can wear anywhere on your body (doesn't have to be your hip/waistband), and it will clip onto a wristband for collecting sleep data. You can go to fitbit.com, or brookstone, or Amazon.com to learn more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
