I am doing much better. I hit a rough patch the day of surgery but it has been getting increasingly better everyday. I almost don't have the desire to eat at all and it is hard to distinguish between hunger pain or sleeve pain. I know I will be able to figure it out one day.

I hope your surgery went well also?

My surgery went well he fixed a hernia I had also... It took a long time for me to come to though...they took me off the pain pump yesterday and I too am having a hard time distinguishing between the belly pains...am I hungry? Am I healing? Am I just in pain? Or is my stomach yelling at me for what I've done to it? Lol hoping to go home today

My surgeon said that you can develop a leak up to 6 months out. He said it is VERY unlikely after 3 months but it can happen up to 6 months.

I found an article that had two patients with leaks at 6 and 9 mons out. Leaks this late or rare but still scare me because I had a very rare complication during surgery (small bowel cut) so now even the rare seems like a very real possibility!?!?

Leaks ONLY occur 6-9 months out of you do not follow the propose relearning eating curb for the first 3-4 months. When you force yourself to eat like you did prior you stretch the stomach lining so the healing process takes longer. Remember ya organs takes a longer time to heal thank anything else on the outside. Your incisions will heal way before your stomach does. So of you're constantly stuffing ya gave and pitting pressure on the wounded stomach you will develop a leak forcing the healing period to extend to an even later date than originally planned.

I has my surgery back in MAY and it was the net thing I ever did for myself

Leaks have occurred years out.

"Diagnosis of a gastric leak can be difficult, as the presentation can vary from asymptomatic to severe septic shock."

"The cause of a gastric leak is indicative of some abnormality or failure of normal healing process of tissue. There is a general agreement that local risk factors contributing to a leak are impaired suture line healing due to staple dehiscence, poor blood flow, and infection. These risk factors contribute to decrease in oxygen and subsequent ischemia to the tissue"

"...leaks after LSG procedures can be a very serious, life-threatening complication that needs immediate attention. Currently, the literature has yet to define an absolute algorithm as to how to manage and treat gastric leaks; however, there is a consensus that timing of diagnosis, severity, and location all play a role in constructing a treatment plan."

This case study was for a patient who had a band to sleeve revision. He has the band removed following weight gain and then had sleeve. It also states this case was very rare .

Is there a reason you suspect a leak? It is unlikely you can have a test done and paid for just to ease your mind with no symptoms or problems. If you are following your surgeon's instructions and not going off the diet plan, following up with your surgeon when required and have no symptoms then I would not worry.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
