Hi there,

Thank you so much, this info was greatly appreciated. This is my first post. I have found this to be very helpful. Now I just need to get my pic added and the ticker done. I was told last week that they were submitting for insurance approval; also it may take 2-4 weeks. All I have left is EKG and I have had plenty of those. I am just anxious about the pre/post op diet. I truly hope I am put on for a short period of time. My goal is 100-120lbs although I would be ok with 50-70 lbs less. I know VSG is the right choice for me. Thank you again.

I've just started this whole process. I've met with dietitian, psychiatrist and support groups. I'm jut wondering about how long does it take to be approved by psychiatrist and surgeon?

If you are going through a Bariatric center, they should be able to tell you time frames. Typically, they are based on what your insurance requires prior to approval. Most are 3-6 months. Good luck!

Heyy!!! VGT :)

If i have all the qualifications and most of the prereqs of the surgery, would they still want you to have the Medical Proof/Documentation that you have tried diets, and excercise before hand. Or will they still approve you without that?

Check with your surgeon or insurance company for their requirements. Most insurance companies require a six month physician monitored diet unless thre are other wweight related comorbidities

I have a question. I'm new so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the incorrect forum/way. When someone sends me a message (it says profile feed at the top) and I reply to them....then I go back later to it..I can't see my whole reply...What do I click on or what do I do so that I can see my whole reply. Basically 2 people asked me the same question, so I wanted to cut and paste my reply so I didn't have to type the whole thing again , but it cut's off my reply after about the 2nd sentence and I can't figure out how to see the rest of it. THANKS! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
