Long-Term Vsg: When Did You Feel Like Capacity Stabilized/"stopped Growing"?

Recommended Posts

When I'm eating solid lean meats (protein first) and veggies, and perhaps a bite or two of carbs it comes out to about 3/4 of 1 Cup of food or .75 Cup. When I'm eating junk, I am a bottomless pit! This is also true for soft foods, such as eggs, oatmeal or yogurts - I can certainly fit in more food. I can easily eat the equivalent of 2 eggs and a few pieces of bacon, but not much more than that.

Oh ha! I see I did respond to this message. Whoops. -_-

This is an excellent topic! I hope more long-timers chime in! I wonder how much the bougie size really affects the ultimate size it ends up being? And I agree in variances. If I don't eat much of a Breakfast, I seem to be able to eat a bit more at lunch then in a normal sitting. If I eat a breakfast and then a lunch, it seems to be about the same each time. I am not able to eat much at all still at 6 months post op but definitely quite a bit more than I could at say 2-3 months post op. I would say about 2-3 ounces of Protein and that's about it. Slider foods are way easier to eat already at 6 months post op and there is very little restriction in those! Especially Wheat Thin crackers, my evil nemesis! I have to only buy a tiny box because if I buy the full size box----I'm afraid of what I would do to it!

It’s been a bit over 2 years for me. I lost 85 – 90 lbs and stay at that level. I’m hungry most of the time and snack too often. But I exercise every weekday for ~ 1 hour and now that my energy is back – I work out in the yard a lot (and actually like it).

My big thing is that at one sitting – I can only eat a small amount, depending on what it is – I eat slow and wait awhile and eat more. Fun how things have changed. I always eat too fast – as my wife always told me, and had to have my food every hot. Now – she always finishes first and by the end bits – my food is cold.

There is nothing I cannot eat – but like I said – some things more than others. I love chicken wing – but still – after one may be two little ones – I’m full.

When I eat too much , my nose gets stuffed up – without fail. Another thing I noticed, it took me a good year before I could belch again – which really helps to settle my little stomach down and make room for more.

I love this thread. It makes me feel normal when I read that there are others that eat carbs and don't get full. I have to stay away from them. It's like a drug once I start it's OVER!

I am at 8 months; sometimes I can eat more than other times - I eat what I want; but stop when I start to get the full feeling - it is my tool to keep me in line. I just went through some medical issues unrelated to the sleeve so it helped me over the slump hump I was at.

I we all listen to our bodies talk we can make it though and keep the weight off permantely.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
