Just To Introduce Myself

Recommended Posts

Just met up with my friend who had her sleeve op in September and is nearly 84lbs lighter. She looks and feels amazing but said she got a bit of the blues at about day 3 post-op but says it soon passed so not to worry, its not unusual.

We're nearly in April. The very best of luck to all those whose ops are next week! If she's anything to go by the very best is yet to come :D

Thanks for the update on your friend!! Yes, next week is the big day!! Just can't believe it. Met with my doctor today and everything looks great (bloodwork, kidneys, liver, chest, etc), so I got cleared for my surgery. Woohoo!!

This is going to sound like a stupid, inconsequential question but do we go into surgery without underwear on? I've become so used to sucky-in-pully-up underwear it'll be odd not wandering around in normal, matching (bliss) underwear! I'm aware that a bra will be out of the question due an incision point but wondered if I should be purchasing a celebratory pair of large "surgery" pants/knickers...;)

Hi! There was just a post regarding the same question. All have said, you do not wear underwear in surgery. I think it would just get in the way. Plus, some surgeons use a cathetor also.

Thanks for that, still trying to find my way around this site.

Hi everyone. Glad to read the info on the Ninja. I don't have one or anything like it other than a standard blender, so I think I will have to check that out. I have my pre-op appointment today. I can't believe it is hear already and April 16 will be right around the corner. I am so excited. Hope all of you who are on your pre-surgical diets are doing well. Stay the course. My thoughts are with you!

Hi!

Welcome to the group! Yes, the ninja is fantastic and it is not an expensive unit. I got mine on QVC and it comes with lots of extras which I love and will come in handy postop. I just made my first Protein Shake in it and it came out very smooth. Good luck on your preop appt. . .are you excited?? It is hard believe that April is on Sunday already!

Well thank you very much!! It's the preop diet and making sure I get all my Water in. It makes such a difference eating healthy. I always feel so good when I eat the right way. I have more energy, my knees don't hurt, and I just feel good. That's why I don't understand why I just couldn't stick to it in the past. I know how great I feel, but I guess food is more like an addiction. Not anymore, taking control now :) .

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
