Conrats on the amazing weight loss so far :) Yes you are perfectly on track here .. however i urge you to do some excersises to maintain your muscle mass.

In general weight loss tends to slow down after 8-10 weeks. Excersising regularly can help shed off weight and even break a stall.

Good luck :)

What excersises do you recommend? After how long after surgery?

You definitely should clear this one with your surgeon or his/her team before you do anything.

I was walking a mile a day as soon as day 2 post-op. At my 4-week post-op I was cleared for all aerobic exercise and started hiking again and even a little "couch to 5k" (albeit I'm going even slower than they recommend just to be safe). My surgeon told me to hold off on weights and horseback riding until 6-weeks. I cheated and started riding at 5-weeks because I felt great, and I got lucky that my horse decided not to put me in the dirt yet. Today is 6-weeks and I plan to start hitting the weights today. I could tell I had lost alot of muscle mass when I tried to lift my saddle! Not cool. I want to lose fat! Not muscle!

That's my 2 cents, but again always check with your surgeon, we're all different!

Good luck and congratulations on an AMAZING job so far!!!

This website has all the info on the couch to 5k: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

It's basically "Running for Dummies" and is designed to get you from a couch potatoe to running a 5k half marathon in two months. I'm in no hurry and definitely don't plan to actually run a half marathon (I'm not at all competitive and hate competitive environments) so I'm aiming to do it in four months instead. Just find what your comfortable with and build from there.

I find it to be a great organizational tool that helps keep me motivated. I refuse to pay for a gym and this is equally as effective and FREE.

First of all i agree with Abacoraveness you have to get the all clear from your doctor.

I started to walk 5 miles a day about 2 weeks out. After 4 weeks i was covering 10 miles holding very light dumbells (5lbs each).

Week 5 is when i really hit high gear. I joined a gym and did serious cardio and light weight lifting.

To get the best cardio results make sure you have adequate resistance. You have to make it a very challenging workout and burn at least 500 calories each time you're on the treadmill.

As for weight lifting make sure its light reps nothing too serious.

Have a Protein shake in the morning on your way to work and another one right after working out.

Sticking to your diet plan is a must. Stay away from carbs and focus on Protein.< /p>

This is what worked for me but every body deals with weight loss differently.

I hope this helps with your VSG journey:)

Good luck

i have no time for gym

is stationary bike enough?

A stationary bike gets results however you need to do more than that to preserve your muscle mass which in turn will help you avoid excess/loose skin.

Good luck :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
