There is no misinformation in my post and I am stating my opinion based on the information I received from the OP and I was responding to the original poster. We all have a right to post responses based on our experience that we think might help the person. Many of the responders share my experience as well. The diversity of this board is what keeps it interesting. Not everyone has the same experience as you had either. You dont have to agree with my opinion but it would be nice if you respected it.

Lord I'm gonna have so much done they should probably just transplant my head on another body. Arms need to be done, gonna need a body lift I'm sure and well, the girls are gonna be put back where they belong.
Luckily. the breasts will still probably be a reduction so I should get that paid for by insurance. Everything else will be out of pocket.

I was at Denny's yesterday and what I love is that I drench the pancakes in syrup and butter and eat like 3 bites. I ate eggs first of course! I used to be like you at first, but now I am shifting into this whole...THANK GOD I CAN'T PIG OUT ANYMORE! It makes me feel so empowered even though I am not really controlling the quantity anymore - my tummy is. HOW MANY TIMES did I eat and eat and eat and thought to myself...WHY AM I DOING THIS? WHY CAN'T I STOP EATING? And then crying because I was fat and couldn't control my portions. I JUST ATE AND ATE AND ATE and then ATE MORE LATER. I love being full off of a small portion of food. IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES that I NO LONGER AM A SLAVE TO FOOD. I DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO OVER EAT. It is nothing short of a miracle.

First of all i agree with Abacoraveness you have to get the all clear from your doctor.
I started to walk 5 miles a day about 2 weeks out. After 4 weeks i was covering 10 miles holding very light dumbells (5lbs each).
Week 5 is when i really hit high gear. I joined a gym and did serious cardio and light weight lifting.
To get the best cardio results make sure you have adequate resistance. You have to make it a very challenging workout and burn at least 500 calories each time you're on the treadmill.
As for weight lifting make sure its light reps nothing too serious.
Have a Protein shake in the morning on your way to work and another one right after working out.
Sticking to your diet plan is a must. Stay away from carbs and focus on protein.
This is what worked for me but every body deals with weight loss differently.
I hope this helps with your VSG journey:)
    Good luck

Conrats on the amazing weight loss so far Yes you are perfectly on track here .. however i urge you to do some excersises to maintain your muscle mass.
In general weight loss tends to slow down after 8-10 weeks. Excersising regularly can help shed off weight and even break a stall.
    Good luck

Thanks. I know you didn't mean to push it, but sometimes nutritionists seem to be pushing at times. The mostly protein, veg and fruit and then good carbs (high protein bread/crackers) seems to be working for me.
Glad we have you folks that have met or exceeded goals here to give us the benefit of your experiences. Hope you all stay for years to come so we can squash the idea that there are no long term examples of successful sleeve patients.

Be careful not to get into that mindset where you don't want to eat because you're afraid it's too many calories. 1000-1300 isn't too many calories. Especially if you're getting in some type of calorie burning routine.
If it slows down the weight loss, that's ok. This isn't a race... you have taken on a lifestyle change and now you have the rest of your life to get to where you want to be. In fact I always say, don't think of how you'll turn out next month. Instead consider yourself one year from now. It's much more realistic... relax a little bit. Again, this is for life... and since you've taken the steps to be healthier, you just added on a whole lot of years of living!! Enjoy it.

Hey guys, hope all my fellow sleevers are doing great! I have a question though... This is week 5 for me and my dietitian wants to bump my calories to 1000-1300. I've been eating between 500-600 calories for the last couple of weeks and anything over 800 seems like a lot to me. I've been getting in enough protein with the amount of calories I eat now and I'm worried if I bump them up too much that it will either slow down my weight loss or end it completely. I seem to be over obsessive with food and my scale so maybe I'm looking into this too much... Please let me know how many calories you're getting in daily and how far out you are; any advice would help. Thanks and many blessings!

NCstatebabe-its hard but I KNOW we can do it. Maybe try to do a chore or something, or go for a walk when the desire to weigh yourself strikes. I know you can do it. There's nothing we can't accomplish.

my doctor has me in stages -- week 1- liquid; week 2- pureed; week 3-4- soft food; week 5- solid. as far as the pureed week, they said to only eat 2oz (pureed food) 3X daily and drink your high protein drinks in between meals. they want me to get in at least 70g of protein and at least 48 oz or more of liquid daily. hope this helps and good luck!

One week from today I will officially be a member on the "loser bench." I've already lost 11lbs on my pre-op diet and can't wait to see how much weight I'll lose by my surgery day. I go in at 5:15 AM and am scheduled for surgery at 7:30 AM on 2/6/12. The nerves are starting to hit but I know I can do this! Any last advice that will help with my success afterwards and possibly things I will/should bring to the hospital? Thanks everyone for all the support; I absolutely love this site

I also had to do a two week liquid preop diet and I agree...it sucked!! What I found was that I'd I would get extremely hungry or have blood sugar issues, I could eat one saltine cracker and it would curb it. I think during my first week of thr preop diet I ate 3-4 saltine crackers everyday. The second week probably 1-2 everyday. My surgeon last Friday said that my surgery was textbook and actually quite boring. That being said, I don't think the saltines hurt me. Good luck and stick with it. The liquid diet "on the other side" is much easier!!!
