Two months out - woke up with a cought/sneezing/runny nose full blown cold - plan on calling the DR's office sometime today to seek what I can/cannot take..........but thought I would check here to see if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.

I always took Zycam to try to reduce the length (it worked) but don't know if this is ok at this point.

I don't have anything productive to say lol... However I did make the comment yesterday that I was going to carry a can of Lysol around with me yesterday because it seems to be going around real good right now an I'm only 2 weeks out and almost had to postpone my surgery because I got REAL sick the week before surgery!

I really hope you get feeling better soon :-)

I got a sore throat last Thursday and took Zicam for a day. My stomach didin't like it too much. I had the sore throat for a week, had went to my PCP and he prescribed some cough Syrup. Yesterday, I started loosing my voice. Today, I don't know if I will be loosing my voice, I really haven't talked to anyone but the cats and dogs. LOL Hope your cold goes away really soon, I'm so afraid I will have a bad cough and pop my stapleline. ;)

I am a year out and I am also sick...My surgeon said I can take anything that is not an ansaid. I choose not to take anything except tylenol when my throat hurts so bad or I have a headache. Pre surgery I took 3 extra strength at a time. Now 1 does the trick nicely!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
