What Happens To Me After Eating A Meal

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 months out and after i eat a meal my stomach brings up something kind of foamy that i have to spit out and this happens usually when i feel i have over eaten a bit.

Has this ever happened to anyone? If so, please explain what it is, how to get rid of it and if i have ride it out how long will that take?

Yes i get this. I have been told it is reflux which is very common after the sleeve. Try speaking with you doctor or surgeon

I think I am right in saying this happens when you have eaten something your sleeve struggles with, or whrn you have eaten too much.

If you are getting it a lot, I'd suggest going back to the basics, eat more slowly, chew very well, and stop when you think you are getting close to full, it is better not to keep stressing your stomach.

Alternately if you are doing all of that, and it is still happeninh, I'd say steer clear of the foods which are triggering it for a while, as your sleeve matures you can usually tolerate a greater variety of foods, so it is probably not forever anyway.

Happened to me yesterday for the first time. Ate Tilapia fish and Veg. Definitely eaten too fast and too much. Very uncomfortable feeling and a lot of spit-like Fluid coming up so I know what to do so it doesn't happen again!

Yes! This has happened to me a few times. Yesterday being the last time it happened. For me it is exactly what the others are saying. I've either eaten a little too much and my sleeve is not happy, or, I eat/drink too fast. Yesterday, it was Water I was drinking too fast and it happened. It's such a weird thing. Then I have to spit it out. My husband teases about it being "not very ladylike" HaHa! but definetly has to come out in order to feel better. You are not alone!

Yes this is called foaming. Others will get sliming instead. It's your bodies way of trying to lubricate/ move the food in the overfilled new stomach you have.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
