One Year Ago Today I Changed The Course Of My Life

Recommended Posts

You look great! Congrats. I had a few slow months too. Then last month, I finally started losing again and got to a normal weight at 14 months out. Your body will let the weight go when it is ready. You have done amazing!

Oh, Becca, thank you so much for this. It was exactly what I needed to hear (read?). I think I am at a plateau weight but I also just got tired of dieting and decided to take a break with the caveat that I wouldn't allow myself to gain. This past week I've finally felt ready to start dieting again... Let the fun begin. :)

PS thank you all for the fabulous comments. I've always identified more with my intellect than my looks but you guys sure know how to make a girl feel pretty! I appreciate it. :)

Thanks for your awesome post. I am very excited about my surgery but I am so afraid of failure too. I'm afraid that I'll be one of those who lose a bunch of weight but learns nothing and gains it all back. I don't want to be that person. But I have to face the fact that I LOVE to eat. I can't imagine myself stopping eating just because my stomach says I'm full, I haven't done that in YEARS. I always over eat and I love all the worst things to eat. I love anything fried, anything smothered with gravy. I don't know how I will stop myself or even how this surgery will stop me from doing these things. Reading your story does help me though as I realize that I will have stalls and even set backs but the important thing is to just keep going.

Thanks!

Faddisc-

I often post that the only way I have been successful is through counseling to come to terms with my over eating and emotional eating. If counseling is within you means, I highly recommend it. I found a great therapist that my insurance covered and saw her for about a year. With her help, I finally feel free if food. Feel free to pm me if you're interested in this approach or have more questions.

Amanda

Congratulations on your success! Your story is so inspiring to me. I am having sleeve surgery on April 11 and my current weight is 317. Your weight loss goal is the same as mine (175 lbs). It is so encouraging to see someone who has already accomplished what I desire to do. It lets me know it is possible for me to lose that amount of weight (100+).

Congratulations on your one year anniversary! You did a beautiful job putting your thoughts to words. I love how honest you are and also how you keep a healthy attitude about it. It's not a race and you are being kind to yourself by giving yourself permission to finish your journey when you are ready. You look amazing. We're all celebrating with you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
