Banded in Mexico but need fill Dr in Boston

My name is Linda and this is my 1st post.

I had my procedure done in Mexico with Dr Ortiz. It all went well but not quite as easily as i expected- had a big hiatal hernia repaired at the same time.

I live in Boston and would so love not to have to go back to Mexico for my fills.

Does anyone know a Dr in the Boston area who will take a Mexico patient?

I was banded on July 18- am feeling great now and have lost 12 lbs already. thanks, Linda

Hi Linda,

Have you tried contacting some of the hospitals? Brigham and Women's, Beth Isreal Hospital, and Faulkner Hospital are just a few of the Boston hospitals that perform this type of surgery. You can try to call them and see if any of them would be willing to take you on. Best of luck. :scared:

Hey Linda,

If you were looking to go slightly outside of Boston, there is an excellent Dr. # the Lawrence Memorial in Medford. His name is Sheldon Randall, and he performs the sxs and the fills. He actually trained w/ the Drs in Boston.

thank you all so much. I will call Dr Randall and all the Boston hospitals. I will post if I have any luck

Hi Linda,

I go to Brigham and womens hospital and they said they do not do fills on patients that had their band placed outside the US. i thought i save you one phone call. Good luck finding someone, maybe the smaller hospitals would be less strict.

I don't have any suggestions sorry. That great Dr. Vivian Sanchez supposed to be outstanding at Beth Israel but I don't think she takes patients banded in Mexico. There's another doc there, Dr. Schneider, but again you might check to see their requirements.

Did you have some options lined up before surgery? Or maybe a referral from other Mexican surgery patients in the area?

WHEW.

Wow, folks have to be very brave to get banded without knowing exactly where their fills are going to be done.

Good Luck & Congrats on your banding.

Dear lighter02

i was having so much trouble finding a dr to do my aftercare and fills since i was banded in mexico. thank you so much for suggesting dr randall. i called him and he agreed to see me. he sounded very nice too.

even though everything went well in mexico, you can' imagine how much i didnt want to go back there for aftercare. thanks again, linda

No problem, Dr. Randall and his staff are awesome. I recently had a problem and didn't even realize that it was band related, he did and even told me about other symptoms that i never told him about. good luck w/ everything, and maybe well meet end up seeing each other there.

let me know if you need anything else
