Hi DcMak72' date='

My psych eval was a problem. It turned out it wasn't to help me in my weight loss but a pure screening process in behalf of the insurance company. I made the mistake of telling the psych that used to be a hippie and I did drugs for about 11/2 years IN THE 60's! Clean ever since. It was enough for the insurance company to reject me. They later accepted me after the bariatric doc appealed.

I advise you to be careful what you say.[/quote']

I had the psych evaluation. I had a 500 question test that asked me "Do I see people and animals others do not see?", "Do I smell my fingers after eating chicken?", "Am I scared of sex?" and "I feel I am being followed?" I laughed so hard, it took me over two hours to finish the test. Seriously!

I am a man! Whats up? I am interested by the disproportion of females to males who have WLS.

I am a man! Whats up? I am interested by the disproportion of females to males who have WLS.

I've noticed that, too. I suppose that some of it is cultural; it's more acceptable socially for men to be overweight than women. Also, I think often the reasons vary why men become overweight vs. women. Men (not all, of course) tend not to be emotional eaters; we like *big* quantities, because we're big strong men. We've worked hard for that trip to Outback, and we deserve their biggest offering. A full plate of spaghetti? Yes, please, with seconds. A 12-pack of beer in the summer in a day? No problem. And years of this made us who we are.

It's a quiet killer, though. In 2009, I took a 2-week trip to China to visit friends. I was lucky to fit in a single seat in the airplane. They were amazed at how much I ate, and the choices I made. There is a lot of street food in China; you can get corn on the cob, steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, scallion pancakes, and a host of other things like fresh fruits and vegetables. I consistently chose things that were fried, or were bad for me (like eating at KFC there), despite my friend's advice. You can see pictures in my profile of what I looked like then. None of them ate the way I did, and I didn't see a lot of overweight Chinese people. :P

Those of us who are sleeved, or pursuing the sleeve, have pulled back from the edge of the funnel. This really is the last station of the diet train; we get off here.

Good luck to everyone!

I must admit I have spent many hours reading this forum (for a couple months pre op). I'm 4 weeks post sleeve and have had no issues at all. The weight loss is steady and I'm really happy with my decision to have the op.

I feel for everyone I read about who has had issues, I'm on soft foods, but really my diet is pretty close to normal (no junk and tiny portions).

I do get a laugh out of how many ladies reply to the 'Man Room' threads.

I'll make an effort from now on. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
