Percepied430 reacted to RawrrAshleex3 in Weight Related Bucket Lists Anyone?
Today I decided to put together a bucket list of things related to my weight. I knew my weight effected me, but I never realized how gigantically :/
    1. Shop in normal stores and be able to wear whatever. No more over priced stores just because they are the only cute clothes in my sizes (ehemmmmTORRID). If I splurge, let it be for cute/sexy reasons, like Victoria Secret. And I want to be able to wear those hot outfits, and buy those hot little Halloween numbers without looking like an overstuffed sausage. And shorts. I haven't worn shorts since elementary school. And I want to wear them without chaffing.
    2. Go up and down stairs and walk long distances without feeling like I'm dying
    3. Tie my shoes without having to suck everything in and holding my breath
    4. Fit wherever I am. Chairs, seats, booths, rides, and not wonder if I'm too big, will I break it, and feel comfortable. And not have 1/2 my butt hanging off.
    5. I want to run for the first time. Even if it's to the car. I want to be able to run like skinny people and not look ridiculous or feel like I'm a million pounds after.
    6. Go to the pool/beach/boardwalk and not feel out of place. I want to be able to wear a bikini and look hot. I'm only 25! I don't want to feel like a whale washed up on shore next to my skinny fiancé, and I want to weigh less than him.
    7. I want to be able to walk in heels without feeling like an elephant on a tight rope.
    8. Speaking of my fiancé, I want to feel ok with letting him pick me up without freaking out on him not to.
    9. Skinny sex
    10. Being ok with pics taken of me. And not saying "omg delete this pic" on fb
    11. Not be the fat one of the group/setting
    12. Get the O_O look. For a GOOD reason. Double points if it's from someone in the past. Ex/schoolmate/whatever
    13. Feel comfortable. Period.
    14. Look beautiful and in a normal size on my wedding day, and not regret my weight in the pictures in years to come.
    15. Not let food control me. Or have others tell me I need to do something about my weight.
    Anyone else have ideas?

I have found that affection makes one quite adaptable to the bodily characteristics of the one loved, even if those characteristics are outside of societal norms. I am going to get a bit graphic here: the loose skin could actually be worked into the general erotic scene, even an asset. Guys with some semblance of emotional maturity and intellect can make this adjustment with ease.
Not wanting do bestow upon you TMI but my wife has lost nearly 90 pounds since her Roux N Y. The following guys convey my feelings about it:

These reactions we get as sleevers are an amatuer psychologist's dream.
It seems to be a human foible to define ourselves by our perceived relative position in relation to those around us. For example: you have a friend who was always the thinner one. She was comfortable and happy to be the better of you two in her own mind. Now you attack your fat with high aggression and she sees her self-definition threatened. Rather than be happy for you out of pure friendship her instinct of self preservation kicks in she lashes out to either discourage you or out of sheer agony that she has to take a new look at herself and blames you.
You know, we are who we are regardless of those around us and what they think. What they think only has a bearing on our welfare if we let it. What we think is paramount.

Percepied430 got a reaction from MoreganK in Pasta Swaps?
I was sleeved 7 weeks ago and I tolerate pasta ok. Of course we are talking very small amounts, but one thing my nutrionist suggested was Quinoa pasta. It has protein and to be honest I prefer it to any whole wheat, tofu or any other type of pasta substitute I have tried you can get it at most health stores, or Publix (here in the South East) maybe target?? or even Wal-Wart maybe.

Percepied430 reacted to Indymom in Wine Post Op
I was a social drinker prior to surgery. I waited until about 3 months post-op (my doc said 3-6 months, so I opted for the 3!). I have drank beer, wine, mixed drinks, etc. with no problems. I avoid too much fruity/high calorie options and prefer either vodka/diet tonic, light beer, or rum/diet soda. I know that it will likely slow down my weight loss, but just as I've learned how to eat differently and in moderation, I'm not going to deny myself an important social aspect of my life either.

For one - I don't want to not ever be able to eat the food I like again in my entire life. When I hit goal, I would like to enjoy my food - but just in much smaller portions.
Also - I don't want dumping syndrome - doesn't sound like much fun.
Also - Sleeve has less mortality rate, and the complications that do arise are generally less severe.
Also - Sleeve gets rid of Ghrellin part of stomach the hormone that creates cravings.
Also - Most importantly though - The sleeve doesn't have the mal-absorption that bypass has - think of being 60 - and needing heart medicine, or diabetes, or whatever else elderly folks take lol My grandma has a whole cabinet full of medicine - and Not being able to absorb the medicine may mean needing to take twice as much as a normal person would - which could also lead to error's in prescribed amounts which could lead to death - not to mention Prescriptions can be costly, and the Vitamin dosage alone for bypass is huge and costly and will be for the rest of your life.
Sleeve does require a couple extra Vitamins, but not nearly as bad as Bypass patients.
And Lastly: According to studies the Sleeve works just about at the same rate as Bypass, and with less complications - it's a good alternative.
Those are just a few of my reasons.

Percepied430 got a reaction from maggie4778 in Wine Post Op
I am also 6 weeks out, and have tried a few sips of wine here and there with no bad effects even tried a beer but only got through about a quarter of it, before it got warm and I lost interest. I have had no side effects. Since we still have our duodenum we wouldn't have the same reaction to alcohol that some one with a RNY woul dhave. I agree though don't over do it. I am interested to hear about trying Jack on ice. I was a big whickey person before surgery. I haven't had it in months do to pre op and none since surgery but I am interested in how it affected someone post op.
