I was sleeved on Monday and the first night I was miserable but soon after I had a breakthrough and I feel fine. The gas and pain is not bad at all. I have pics I will post soon. I even have a pic of my old stomach and a video of my new stomach. I am over the moon. Dr Garcia said that I had a lot of scar tissue from my other surgeries but I did fine. I have enough paperwork to keep me reading for a while. Everyone was nice and even though there was a language barrier they spoke enough English to communicate properly. I only have two complaints: the Water in the hospital was cold which was fixed immediately and the beds in the hotel are hard. I just asked for extra pillows. I am a picky patient so I expect all to go well. Polite, nice, caring, and professional. Clean clean clean! Ask me questions I will answer them. I'm going to have broth now but will answer when I wake up from my nap.

So glad that your doing well. I also had a great surgery with Dr. Kelly on monday as well and my first night with the gas pains was horrible, yesterday was better and today I feel great. I had some broth and some Jello and going out for a little shopping later. I feel great and my leak test went well, but the solution tasted horrible!! Glad your doing well lets get this journey started!!

I am at the Lucerna Hotel. The solution was yucky for both tests!

YAY! Happy for you and you're on the road to recovery.

Hotel Ticuan also had hard beds, the hospital had better beds.

I knew you would love Dr. Garcia and the Hospital MI Doctor. We had a great experience there just last week also. We loved the nurses there, they are so sweet. Hospital's not fancy, but clean and they have everything you need to take good care of you. We must have to pay so much extra here in the US for all the fancy art work and sculptures. Ya think?

Have a safe trip home and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Congratulations.......So glad that you choose Dr Garcia. I can not say enough good things about him and his surgical staff. Also the staff at Hospital MI was excellent and I have to agree with you that it is small but they had everything that I needed in a hospital. I also agree with your comment on the clean, clean, clean. I have worked at several hospitals in my career in the medical field and this beat any of the hospitals that I worked at in the US.

I am glad that you are feeling better and agree that the liquid was bad. Especially that last blue stuff that I had to drink.

I stayed at Hotel Pueblo Amigo and was also very satisfied. Also the driver to and from the airport was excellent.

I look forward to hearing about your progress......best to you.

I wish I could get more comfortable. I keep waking up fixing my pillows. I had a great shower last night. I can deal with the gas.

On a funnier note: my husband was in the bathroom tearing it down and I was actually jealous of how easy it was for him to poop. Lol. Yes jealous of poop. I'm laughing at myself on that one.

Well, I'm glad so many of us agree that Dr. Garcia and the Hospital MI Doctor were great and the hospital was not "disgusting" like someone receintly wrote. That posting lost business for them and that's just not fair. Some people are just plain difficult and you can't please all the people all the time. But to lie and say the place was dirty and "disgusting" well that's just not right.

I know what you mean about the poop Rahnava. When you gots nothing to poop, you just can't poop. Just be careful because the pain meds can constipate you. Hope you can keep up with your Water intake as that will help.

You going home tomorrow? I hope the driver didn't get sick. When we took us to the airport last Friday we both had colds. I gave it to my son who we saw later that day so we had germs.

Take good care and congrats on your successful surgery.

I'm going home. I miss my kids and my bed. This was great I just need some family time. Those street vendors got on my last nerve.

I would send my family to dr Garcia. It's sad how words hurt people who don't deserve it. I think having someone who knew Spanish with me helped. They spoke enough English to take care of me.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
