  7. I will be having surgery with Dr. Garcia the 16th of this month. I am going alone, due to babysitting issues. My mom was going to come with me, however our babysitter backed out on us, so now she is flying here to watch my girls while I go alone. I am still looking forward to this, just a lil nervous being all by myself.
  8. Thank you for sharing, that means so much to me. You write quite beautifully, and I appreciate all the details. I wish you well on your journey

  11. Technically I don't have to start my preop diet until the 2nd, but since my bmi is so high (68) I decided to start cutting down on my portion sizes this week, and uping my protein intake as well. It's hard cuz i am never full, but I am trying my best. I eat about 2,200-2500 caloires a day-all from healthy foods-which is good for me cuz i usually eat like seriously 5,000-9,000 calories a day! i eat lots of sugar free popsicles to help get me through the cravings, also coffee w/splenda helps me feel full, as does adding spinach leaves to all my meals to turn it into a salad of sorts. Next week I will be replacing one meal a day with protein shakes, and the next week 2 meals a day and so forth. This has got to be the hardest part of this journey!

  16. Hello Whenever I start a new topic or read others topics-well when I scroll down to the bottom of the page to read the rest of the replies the replies are all squished up and unreadable....it looks as if the replies are overlapping so I am unable to finish reading it. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks!
  17. Thank you Felicia! I know what you mean about being treated like crap if you have medicaid. The lady on the phone from my insurance was rude and wouldn't give me any information regarding how I can start the process to get WLS. I dont want anything but the sleeve, but she wouldn't tell me if it was covered or not either. I have done the sleep test, no apnea. I have done the ekg with another doctor, so I wonder if I can use those past attempts towards this application. It wasn't more than 2 years ago...I hate what you have to go through to try to get healthy. Clearly Im a canidate-why do I have to jump through hoops just to get this? It's almost like they want you to suffer.
  18. I called and the lady was very vague and kept telling me that my doctor has to start the process, which he wont. and she basically didnt know anything else. she has no idea what WLS they cover or dont. yea, calling wasnt a help at all.
  19. Hi! I live in Ohio and was wondering if anybody knew if the Medicaid would cover the sleeve surgery? I am 25 with a bmi of 65 and I weigh 430 pounds. However, nothing else is wrong. I have no sleep apnea, blood pressure, diabetes or anything. I think that is why my primary doctor hasnt suggested the surgery and doesnt seem interested in helping me get the surgery. I was thinking about going to Mexico but I am a full time student so money is tight...I know for sure this surgery is right for me. I see people less than HALF my size getting insurance approval and it makes me so sad because it feels so out of reach for me cuz I only have Ohio Medicaid...
