Hi there, I live in Lake Steven's by Everett, I went to Northwest Weight Loss Center in Everett. Dr's Montgomery and Watkins. It is way cool there and they are so very nice and helpful. Almost everyone you will meet there has a lap band. I got myine last september and i love it. you should really look there. plus all your aftercare for one year is all included in your initial price. they have 2 support groups a month and you can go up to bellingham for fills. they are up there once a month if you'd rather go north. south sucks for traffic reasons. but the center is in a beautiful brand new building and i can't say enough great things about the folks there.

HI Ellen

The NW Weight Surgery Center in Everett has an excellent reputation. Most of the support staff has been banded and they are very helpful

and can provide first hand information. Their address and phone numbers are as follows:

Everett office:

125 130th Street SE

Everett, WA 98208

(425)385-2263 (BAND)

Toll free (866)350-BAND (866-350-2263)

(425)385-8476 (fax)

info@thelapband.com

I have talked and read quite a bit about the different weight loss procedures and I strongly believe the lap band is the best. It is adjustable, reversable and has far less side affects than bypass

surgery.

The cost is more than is Mexico but 1 year free support and adjustments are part of the price.

Hi Fishy, I live in Graham ! I was banded May 4th. I went to Surgical weight Loss center in Tacoma. My Doctor is Dr. Srikanth ,The surgery was done at St Francis Hospital in Federal Way. I am doing good. I still am suffering from gas pains but can deal with them! I attend the weight loss support groups at St. Joesph in Tacoma they meet the 1 & 3 Mondays of each month. I also go to the Surgical weight loss Center support group that meets at the La Quinta Inn. It is in Tacoma off I-5 on the first Wednesday of each month. Do you have a follow up Dr. set up. I hear it is a really good idea to have that all done before you have your band done. You may call the Surgical Weight loss center as they work with patients having it done in Mexico. I was self pay also. I choose to stay here and have it done. I just really liked Dr. Srikanth and felt very comfortable with him.

I wish you the best of luck in your new journey. You are going to do great!

Soon it will be Gone For Good!

DeAnn

Hello.

I'm planning on getting banded in the next couple of months, but I'm having some problems...

1. I was approved for financing, via CapitalOne, but they only finance Dr's that have USA medical licenses (found that out after I found Dr. Ortiz).

So, with that, does anyone know of a doctor that has ties to a Mexican doctor and is always willing to work something out??? Prices here in the states are way too high...Ortiz is charging $8500 right now!

Any advice is welcome!

Courtney

Courtney- I wouldn't know about Ortiz, I am a Kuri gal. My doc had a finance company he worked with. Have you asked Ortiz or his patient coordinator? My friend got a regular loan from a bank, but I suppose that is what you already tried, huh?

DeAnn- Congrats!! I hear great things about Dr. Srikanth and Dr. Fox too, my friend goes to him for fills. He charges $402 for a first fill and $250 for subsequent fills. They are working on getting fluoroscopy, but currently do blind fills.

Hey Kurt! I was banded in MX too and am in Bremerton. I get my fills in Olympia. Feel free to PM or email. It would be nice to have a band buddy who is almost local.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
