I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!

Recommended Posts

I am so sorry you are suffering like this! It does sound like dehydration, so be sure to get that addressed.

I don't regret surgery, but I don't feel great myself. I am really tired of feeling tired.

Regret doesn't do any good - too late for that - so now is the time to proactively work on the things you need to do to feel better. I know that isn't easy, but you don't have much choice. Deal with the dehydration first, that will make it easier to keep stuff down, will make you feel better. Once that is under control, find Protein drinks/foods that don't repulse you... and take it like medicine. I would be careful to not go too crazy with low carbs either, I feel worse if I am eating too low carb. Days were I am 20 G of carbs I wanna keel over, if i am 40-50G I feel much better. Then, start walking... nice and easy... but a bit of activity will make you feel better.

And then, do some visulazition of the day that you will feel better, you will be slimmer... focus on the positive, it will help you feel better sooner.

Best of luck to you - and you definately have my empathy!

After reading all of the posts so far and reading what you have posted I would say that you are definetly dehydrated. You need some help if you are unable to take broth or the gatorade. You are not getting enough nutrition to sustain yourself and need to call your doctor back and tell him that you are unable to take anything by mouth. You need to either go into the ER and get a couple liters of Fluid or the doctor needs to admit you to the hospital for a day or 2 until he can get your stomach settled so that you can take in fluids etc. Call him now.

Try this for me and let me know what happens. On your the backside of your hand take your fingers and pinch the skin and let me know if the skin smooths back out flat or it your skin stay in a peak shape. Let me know what happens.

i think shakes are just completely out of the question now. ive tried several. they all make me run to the bathroom. im drinking & trying to stay hydrated.

the gatorade doesnt taste too strong. i think the taste of burping it up is what is turning my stomach.

as far as "dieting", im not worried about it. at this point, i can careless about how much i weigh (i never weigh myself). ill eat anything & everything that taste good & will stay down & will make me feel better. i hope i feel better soon. its all i want. i get scared to leave my house because im afraid i might pass out while im out. i chauffer kids around & i literally struggle to get out of bed. i feel ok driving since im sitting down but getting out the car is another story.

i dont have diabetes & im not on pain meds anymore. i also noticed that at night, im constantly waking up during the night. i never sleep straight thru anymore.

I know I am telling you what you have already heard but please don't get discouraged. This is a MAJOR change. Part of the fatigue could be a lack of Protein or maybe you just need time to heal. Being upset and stressed can also add to your fatigue.

Try to relax. Think positively. Try the gatorade that has Protein in it so you get the protein and hydration. It costs a little more but it goes down better than the shakes or powders because it doesn't have the "protein" taste.

I would also recommend adding Vitamin D and maybe getting tested for Diabetes. Are you on the pain meds? If so, they could be dropping your blood pressure and causing you to feel wiped out. Just a few suggestions that I have seen here.

The first few weeks are a bear but we are all here for you cheering you on. You did this for you because it was the right choice for you. Look ahead to how good you will feel when you do feel normal and not obese. It really does get better every day.

My Dad is type two and he sometimes feels really fatigued and light headed if he doesn't get enough nutrition. Just a thought. I agree with all the posts... Drink to replenish your electrolytes and try to get in Protein. Rest if you feel tired. Give yourself time to heal.

I'm so sorry you are going through such a rough time. Here is an ehug ((((YOU)))).

If you skin smooths back out you are not significantly dehydrated. Just keep drinking your Water and whatever you can keep down. I would however becareful when driving as you could faint if you get that low and have an accident and that would be horrible. Take care of yourself and do the best that you can.

hi jasleeve,

what a mess haven't to deal with this. I'm so sorry.

Due to the fact that you haven't been able to drink your Protein shakes, gatoraid, anything. As everyone says, you must be dehydrated. If you continue like this, you will continue to be weak, dizzy and weak and dizzy some more. You can't do this to yourself.

I'm not even talking about the sleeve, when someone has your symptoms of course they are going to feel like. crap .. As they say, you must be an advocate for yourself. Is your mom still staying with you. Is she strong enough to be there for you?

I remember your friends haven't been supportive before, but when push comes to shove, maybe they will help now. It doesn't matter that it involves the sleeve, just tell them something like we've been friends and i could really use your help now. Hopefully someone will get involved.

Of course we're not dr.'s and we can't give medical advice - but our opinion, from many, is that you need to talk to your doc and if he doesn't mention it yet, say "do you think i should go to hospital for an IV. I need help cuz this isn't working." Or obviously whatever he says follow his instructions.

Just to mention quickly, In my opinion, you are sick because you can't get your fluids, running on empty, all that good stuff - results from a surgery, any surgery. It just happened to be the sleeve. At a later point, soon hopefully - you'll be feeling better and then you can start dealing with the sleeve

For now, just take care of you - completely you - do what the dr. tells you - and i just know you'll get better. I know it.

We'll all thinking of you

Big huggs from your sleeve community and me too

kathy

If thats true - please stop - you're dizzy and you could have a problem with the car for you, and very importantly those kids you're in charge of.

please don't drive

im getting in fluids.. thats not the issue. im getting in about 50-100oz a day (depending on the day). im not getting in Protein shakes.

i live with my mom. my mom works a full time job & i work as well so im running around during the day & rest in between. as far as friends, i have none supportive enough & i gave up on that.

im not feeling dizzy, its more of a faint/weak feeling. climbing stairs feels like i have weights strapped around my ankles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
