I Know It’s All In My Head But

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved December 1st. 2011 and already in this time I have gone through so much, nothing bad, just the learning process of the new sleeve. I am losing about a pound a day I am currently at 260 (and this was the last day of my period so expect to drop more this week), so my highest was 303 then the day of surgery I was 287 and as of 1/3/12 I am 260. The best part is just how good I feel it is like I hit a switch and I feel so much better. The eating can be tough mainly I have to slow down a bit and I’m having trouble tolerating the Vitamins, and I’m completely over the Protein Shakes. I am down a pant size and expect to be down another in the next few weeks. The problem that I am having is that I haven’t had much trouble and the transition for the most part is going smoothly, this leads me to think that I am not doing something right or I won’t be successful. I know it’s all in my head but I just thought I’d share.

Cassandra, welcome to my world. I was one of the lucky ones who got the immediate energy boost, too. I've had a couple of days in the last month where I was really tired, but I have felt normal and high energy most of the time.

Of course, I was in horrible condition before, so any improvement is going to seem major, IMO.

This will work for you and you will get to your goal! The sleeve definitely pays you back for every bit of effort you put into it!!

Thank you Lissa, It’s just wild that I am struggling with feeling good, I thought that this was going to be extreme and it is in some ways but in others it’s just smooth, I should be glad but I am feeling mixed emotions, maybe it’s just today…banghead.gif

I think that we beat ourselves up for so long that we've relegated ourselves to feeling bad being "normal" - to the point where we don't understand the feeling of feeling good any longer - so when it happens, its foreign and we try to push against it. Its not "normal" Welcome to your new normal :) Embrace it - you've earned it :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
