Struggling With The First Day Of 2012

Recommended Posts

2012 has begun down here. However for what feels like the first time since my surgery I am feeling down and wanting to eat the feelings away. This supposed to be my year to really live my li

fe. But I am alone and have been walking around the shopping centre and see all this food I want to eat but know will only make me ill if I do. I have not succumbed.

I will go for a run later when it cools down which will hopefully bring the happy endorphins.

Just need to express these feelings somewhere safe. My family and friends would only worry more.

Thanks Kimmie!

The run did help make it better, was a beautiful day in Sydney and the harbour looked amazing. I got home and had a spa and feel so much better.

The head did not win the battle today :)

Aussiegirl, I wish I had the words to console or help you, but unfortunately I do not. All I can say is that if anyone understands you, it is the people on this forum! Hopefully someone else will come along and be able to write something helpful. In the mean time, I'm sending you positive vibes!

Family and friends do worry, but they are also best at making us feel better. Letting them into your private world can be scary, but sometimes very liberating! good luck and happy new year!

Aussiegirl, you are obviously a very strong person. I will follow your example (ahem...walk, not run...) when the head tries to take over. You are obviously going to be a smashing success. Happy New Year!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
