This is making me so excited for my upcoming surgery scheduled for April 15th with dr Ortiz. With my low BMI I figured weight loss would be slow but there are so many great results in here! I love it!

My husband supports me but says "When you get skinny you're gonna be a pain the a** and monitor everything that I eat". He is about 100lb overweight and has no desire to change...sigh...

I was 30.5 when I decided to get sleeved. I'm older and my poor genetics seem to be following my dad's. SO I wanted to stop it before it got worst. BP/Joints/ Cholesterol/Liver stuff :( . I got sleeved Monday. Had a esophgeal hernia fixed too. But, anyway keep us updated!.

That is how I am also. Lower BMI but I gain a bit of weight every year and my family is obese. I feel as if I am destined to be if I don't do something now. My bf doesn't really agree with this decision but he is supporting me in it by going along with me and helping me out. He would worry about me going all that way by myself. I received my pre-op Vitamins and his passport today so it all seems very real to me now even though I am not scheduled till April 15th.

I was sleeved this past Monday and was worried I feel weird because I'm "not that fat" with a BMi of 34.5 but there were other low bmi'ers there. Being "not that fat" had made me question my surgery decision but seeing others there gave me ease I'm down 11 lbs so far:)

I was around 145 up until I was about 20, then came the drinking and eating late at night. I put on about 70 pounds in a year. I've been fat ever since lol

I got into the low 200's a few years ago. I've been on and off diet pills for years (I'm a boxer and I've had to drop weight)... They are horrible and bad for you and are like a bandaid over the problem. I also know this tool isn't "permanent" but I love the idea of hunger not ruling my life. I have PCOD and I'm 35 this year. I met a guy over Christmas. I heard later he referred to me as "that fat chick" .... No one else will be touching my body (besides my wax lady) until post op. I'm not as big as some here but I've felt the same feelings and emotions as you. I've had "your stomach doesn't gross me out as much anymore" from a boyfriend. "You got fat" from an ex, said in front of a group of friends. I said "not fat voluptuous" he said "no fat". A stranger on a plane told me "I'd be more beautiful if I ate less" ... I have more but I won't bore you. This Christmas one was the last straw. I don't feel "fat" inside ... I want to be happy and confident again ... This yo-yoing has gone on sine about 20 yo - enough already! I'd rather die on the operation table trying, then go on like this! Parents are against Mexico but I know I'm in good hands and have all this support on here even if I don't have there's %100

I want to be happy and confident again.

I can totally related! I've had many family members and total strangers make inappropriate comments, and my self confidence was on the floor.

Since having surgery on 12/19/2012 I've lost 33 lbs and feel great!! Best of all, my mojo has been returning. I'm happier and more flirtatious than I've been in a long time. Once I lose the remaining 27 lbs I will be unstoppable...and somewhat dangerous! ;-)

This is undoubtedly one of the best decisions I've ever made. Go for it!!

XOXO,

Alexis

That's grey news!! Yes, I've turned into a very negative person about myself as its SO unattractive!! I can't wait to feel confident again ... And also getting dressed in the morning ... I wear %10 of my clothes & I have some really nice clothes but won't wear Any of them ! ! (I split my fave pants last week - that didnt help matters) This surgery can't come soon enough ...

I'm wearing my old clothes that didn't remotely fit before. In fact, I have some clothes I bought "for when I lose weight" that still have tags on them. I tried them on last week and found that I can't wear them...but for a different reason... because they're now too big!! It's a shame but I'm definitely *not* complaining. This procedure is literally life-changing...in a positive way!!

Omg....I have a whole section of my closet dedicated to these....I can't wait to get into them

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
