I had my sleeve on December 15 and it is now dec. 21 and I still have pain. I have slowed way down with my pain medicine because. Don't feel like I really need it I'm not in crazy enough pain to need the medicine every 3 hours or so.... but still when moving walking with out the pillow pet that i hold for support for my belly laying down sitting down standing up and wiping after using the bathroom front and back taking a shower ( washing my hair) slightly bending down to turn the Water hotter in the shower or to get my blanket off the coffee table (16-18 inches off ground) and much more I have sharp pain on the left side directly below my left breast. Is this normal for the time I'm in?

Is it when you stretch your incision site? Or is it deeper inside? It is best that you contact your surgeon in inquire about pain level. When I did too much, my left incision under always gave me alot of grief. A dull ache that was bothersome. Seldom took pain medication though. Just for piece of mind, I would call (and I have) my surgeon. I thought that I had a hernia which really scared me. But I didn't. I had no complications thank god.

Good luck and nurture yourself as much as possible, you deserve it. It gets better. aureola.gif

I agree. I think you should call your doctor. I know everyone is different, but my pain only lasted for a couple days after surgery. Besides a little soreness right at the incision site. Better to be safe than sorry, not sure how the risk of infection is, but I would imagine that would cause pain. Just for peace of mind, the best bet is to run it past yor surgeon.

My pain lasted that long. I had drains in - not sure if that contributed to the soreness. It wasn't terrible pain, but when I would first get up I would tend to walk a bit hunched over since ab muscles felt sore. Reaching, bending etc definately hurt. I also still had some gas pains at that point.

Heck, my surgery was 12/12 and i still get a little pain.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
