Just Got Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

Recommended Posts

I just got sleeved on Wednesday, Dec 14th. I'm finally home

So far I can swallow with more or less little pain, I'm on a liquids only diet.

I don't know what to expect or when the wait will be coming off.

There are so many unknowns, I'm a bit anxious.

The weight starts coming off pretty quickly! Remember to sip sip sip sip and... you guessed it- sip some more. No need to be anxious, it'll happen all on it's own at this stage.

Hi Dee3177:

I don't know what to expect either, one day at a time right? I'm scared i won't be able, or just won't drink enough or walk enough at this early stage, but i know i must do both.

if i can do the above, keeping up w/the liquids and especially walking through the house back and forth, stopping then continually walking through the day - then i guess i'm off to a good start.

its the "here after" that concerns me too, just experience everything as it comes, but hope i'm doing it right.

like many, it took me a long time to decide on the WLS. But I'm really glad i took the plungehurray.gif

i'm 58 yrs young, and I had not been able to take this extra weight off ever since i gave birth to my daughter (of course that was 35 years ago) smile5.gif

Seriously i've been OW since i was about 19. First about 10 lbs, then 30 then etc. etc. , now its almost 95 lbs. How did that happen? This WLS our "friend" the sleeve had to happen, as many say "i wish i had done this surgery 10 years ago or so", but better late than never as the old cliche' goes.

Oh well, we've probably all gone through this, and all wonder how "it" happened. Like i said before, its the old "hands to mouth" syndrome

Dee, good luck to both of us, and the whole sleeve community grouphug.gif

I was sleeved on the 13th so I'm 5 days post op now. Everyday does get a little better. I am craving food like crazy though. I've even done the putting it in my mouth and chewing then spitting it out thing. No, that doesn't help. I just want something with substance. I guess that's how I got here in the first place. I can't handle anything cold or my stomach goes in to spasms and does flips! It's very hard to get in all my fluids but that's getting better too. I can't wait to see some weight loss to help motivate me through the hard times. Nobody ever said that this was going to be a walk in the park but geeeeez it's much more difficult than i ever dreamed it would be. Good luck to you all!!

Thanks for all the great replies!

So far I have been eating yogurt, pudding and Jello and drinking Water and apple juice.

I have a drainage pump attached to me and I'm still getting used to that.

It's getting easier to swallow anyting.

How much Water are you guys drinking? Does drinking water contribute to the wait loss?

What Vitamins are you guys taking?

Wow! My doc won't let me be on "full" liquids (yogurt, pudding, jello) until 2 weeks post op. I'm on only Clear Liquids for 9 more days and it's killing me! I don't drink much plain Water but my doc says that any clear liquid is considered part of the 64 oz liquid requirement. Drinking liquids is mainly to keep from getting dehydrated but it also aids in flushing bad stuff from your system and aids in weightloss. For the first 2 weeks i'm only to take vit B12 sublingual and prilosec. After 2 weeks i'm to start on a Multivitamin.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
