January 2012 Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

MTC, just curious, why did they have to place an IVC filter? My doc is going to use Venadyne boots during/after surgery to prevent clots. Good job, sticking to your plan, that was a tough one.

I had an IVC filter placed, also because I had a DVT in 2009. My doc wanted it as extra protection. I was given Lovenox twice a day while in the hospital and came home on my Coumadin/ Lovenox bridge 2 days after surgery. They also used the boots while in the hospital.

Well I'm sleeved! yesterday was the first day to my new life! Surgery went great! hardly had pain, got up and walked around by 4ish, did that a few more times, eating ice chips and doing well.

Today us a different sorry, though! I'm sore and have a hard time taking deep breaths. Can't do the same stuff I was doing yesterday but I was able to eat a small piece of Jello. No buyers remorse here!

Congrats EM!

that's great...keep your good attitude, do the breathing exercises and try to walk as much as possible...bed hospitals are uncomfortable, that's why you are probably sore.

I am sleeved. Yesterday I was in horrible pain. Got up to walk finally at 4 am . Super tired. Still waiting to drink something. Hard part is over though. I made it to the losers bench!!

Congrats!!! Try to walk as much as possible, do your breathing exercises and ask for more meds...I was on morphine the first day, auto pump :)

It will get better, I promise!!! You will be tired and that is normal...I slept almost non stop while I was in the hospital :) probably from the drugs :))

I had my 2 weeks post op today!!! Still struggling with my Water intake, but they said it is normal! Got new set of blood work to do, B12 shots once a month on top of my Multivitamin and Calcium.

Hi all,Hope everyone is doing ok. Had my surgery on Monday the 16th so I am three days out. Minimal pain and almost feel like myself. I was so prepared for pain but my tummy hasn't been very bad I have a a lot of severe headaches though. I am so happy I have been sleeved, I'm ready to start a new life! The hard part right now is getting in enough fluids, I get full so easily. And I am NOT hungry at all, I really wasn't sure that could happen for me. My hubby is baking for the household and it just doesn't look so good and any thing with any fat in it looks kinda gross to me right now. They are all skinny and so it is great for them, glad I don't feel tempted in the least. Everyone is very concerned if the food might bother me. TO those recovering i wish you smooth sailing and to those who are waiting, just know that it isn't too bad really and you will be here feeling the promise of a new, better, healthier and more active way of living!

I am now officially on the losers bench and sleeved. I must be a wimp because I hurt like hell and I'm nauseated. Don't get me wrong i don't regret it at all and I am really excited for the changes to come.

They placed an IVC filter because I have Lupus with an autoimmune clotting disorder called antiphosolipid syndrome. My only clots were during pregancy but they just want to be safe I will also have lovenox and antithrombic stockings. Still feel sore from the filter not where it went in but up in my abdomen on the right side cant take a deep breath with out it hurting probally going to call in the am if it doesnt get better..

Surgery Monday, Gatorade G2 in fridge chilling for Sunday, bag partially packed and list of other things to pack. I'm excited and ready to go. A little worried about some sleet predicted, hopefully will be ok. On pins and needles till 4:00 when I can call to find arrival time.

YEAH!!! Good luck...I stayed away as much as possible from Gatorade due to the sodium in it...I liked better the crystal lemonade right after the surgery.

Is Tylenol not helping with your headaches? Try to sip Water through a straw...even so you will probably not be able to get all your fluids in and that is ok...just had my 2 weeks post up and I can barely get 45oz per day...try as much as you can...

Good luck,

ela

I am sorry to hear that...do you have any antinausea pills...my doctor gave me a prescription before the surgery to have it just in case...Feel better soon

I am concerned about the lack of hydration, especially since I live at a higher altitude.

@Anakin Jay - put some socks on! :) You've worked very very hard for this!!!! Thinking of you!!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
