Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?

Recommended Posts

I have so much excess skin I'm starting to consider plastics. I'm 9lbs away from goal and I'm in size 8 jeans but I know without my tummy I'd be in a 6 or 4. That is how much extra skin I have. It's really getting on my nerves and I HATE wearing a shaper every single day.

What scares me is all the complications I read about on Obesity Help's plastics forum.

Has anyone on here had a TT?

How long did it take to get back to normal?

Would you do it again?

How much was it?

When could you go back to work?

What would you change if you could do it over again?

Are you happy that you had it done?

I am anxious to see the reply's that you get to this post. I too am considering a Tummy Tuck. I am 12 pounds from goal and don't want to do it until I reach my desired weight. I have many of the same questions. Congratulations on your success!

I am right there with ya! I am in the process of trying to figure out how I can get one done. I have had c-sections so my gut folds over my scar. I measured under the gut and on the scar and then around the fat and it's a 3 inch difference. Not terrible compared to some I have seen but when you are wearing a size 4/5 and you have to deal with that and the pants keep falling under my gut, it's stinkin annoying!

My WLS support group friends that have gone through with it are all very happy. However I would say at least 25% of them dealt with complications, from infections and the drains being in for EVER to incisions reopening.

I want one too! Currently 4 pounds below goal - but only been a goal for about a month now - so I am goin gto wait until I have maintained for at least 6 months or so - then I am going for it! I am tired of the lose baggy skin - I dont have any real rolls - just floppy lose skin...ish.

I am so ashamed at what I did to my body - every time I look at it -it plays with my mind. I think I look pretty good in my clothes but when I look in the mirror after a shower... I see an old wrinkled mess from my belly button down. But I will keep working away and saving and hopefully I will get a Tummy Tuck next year! :)

Well I have had one but I got it done about 5 years ago and even though I was still over 200 pounds when I got it , after having a child it looked like my butt was in front.......I had VSG surgery in June and my stomach is flat looking in my clothes......I would absolutely do it over again...I will be honest with you though it was probably the worst surgery recovery wise I have ever done....the VSG surgery I had no pain , took no medication and felt great. I have a big pain tolerance but it was no match for this surgery.....make sure you have family available for the first week, all day and night.....you cant sit up by yourself or lift anything and you wont want to...you will also need someone you are comfortable with to use the restrooms........But after all said and done , yes I would do it again.......but I still remember what I had to go thru and it wasnt fun........Just my journey , others might have weathered better............Good luck on your journey :)

Hoorrayyy for plastics and tummy tucks... and all that stuff. I think you all know I'm all about the finishing touches. I haven't even decided at all about skin removal. Maybe in time, though for now I'm fine with what I've got as far as loose skin. Who knows how I'll feel in a few years tho. I'm a woman and entitled to change my mind at any time.

I will be looking into this thread again, as I would love a TT! My overhang is gross... it reshapes my clothes and is difficult to hide - I think - and I agree, if it wasn't there I would be in a size smaller trouser!

I have quite a few pounds left to lose yet...but would love one in the future...

I will have to wait until I pay off some debt before I do anything like this, but good to know how much I will need :)

I had a lower body lift about 13 years ago. Give or take. I had pain yes I will admit. However The recovery was easy I was back at work in ten days. Since having VSG my curves are coming back. :biggrin5: I would do it again! Now this was not only a TT but a lift and fat removal.

I paid $8000.00 back then for this procedure. I haven't priced anything lately. My insurance will pay for my breast augmentation, lift, reduction that I will be needing eventually. I was going to look into a medial thigh lift as well. With only needing to lose 18 more pounds maybe the thigh lift will get rid of that.

Good luck with getting your TT.

Deb

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
