My surgery was December 14, 2011. I only had 55 lbs. to lose, but it was in my abdomen in a dangerous place. I have lost 61 lbs. and Monday will go for my 9 month appt. and also meet with the NUT to find out how many carbs and calories I need to intake so I can maintain and not continue to lose. Have gone from a size 18 to a size 4 jeans. Love my sleeve! Has anyone heard from babigirl?

I would love to come to your party on 12/31, however, since I live in Southern Californbia, I doubt if I can make it! LOL! Have fun.

Hey Guys!!! I've lost about 60-ish since surgery about 81 over all. I think...... went from a 28/30 to a size 20 so far... I'm not that thrilled about the number of pounds, BUT, I'm estatic about the inches I've lost so far... Hopefully by Dec. I will have dropped another 25-30 pounds...

Keep up the good work!!!

I just love keeping track of this thread - oh how far we have all come!

My lapband was removed Sept 28 2011 and I was reflecting a few weeks ago on a whole year without that cursed thing! I was sleeved Dec 12 2011 and have been thinking so much about how I FELT a year ago. I have always been a positive type person, but looking back I was in denial about how miserable I was. It wasn't self loathing, it was the misery of being trapped in a body that just couldn't do the things I wanted to do. I felt physically awful buried in all that fat. On days when I get a little discouraged, like I missed my first goal on my 10 month surgiversary, I remind myself of how great I FEEL compared to when I started out.

I have experienced quite the return of hunger which is giving me some angst. I decided to go see a counselor who specializes in WLS patients, not because I am falling off program or anything, but more i recognize that feeling of anxiety. That feeling of hunger makes me start thinking that I will fail at this - regain everything. I know that is "all or nothing" thinking but I do feel worried about it.

The thing is, being hungry is not the end of the world, it is a normal human (well animal) event and yet i somehow seem to fear that sensation!

So, my weight loss has slowed way down, but I am taking a few steps to try to help myself lose a bit more as well as facing the scary maintenance phase in 2013, where I have always "failed" before. I am sure many of you are already in maintenance, hope it is working out great for you!!!

Hello fellow December sleever. I was sleeved on December 28, 2011. I have lost 74 pounds so far, but I feel like I am falling in a rut. I really need some help to get back on track. My hunger is coming back and I am starting to be able to eat more than before and I am scared. I didnt go through all of this work to possibly gain back my weight. Does anyone have any advice? What are some everyday staples that you eat?

Thanks.

I was sleeved Dec 12 2011, have lost 123# and am still inching toward my ultimate goal to losing 150# total.

What works for me is going back to basics and following the sleeve rules. I am also exercising, but the main thing is staying high protein/moderate carb and eating very small quantities. I still use a teaplate and appetizer utinsils to eat with for example.

Hey all. I was sleeved the 12th also. I've lost 94 lbs so far. Been stuck around 230s for a while now, about late august. Dipped back down to 228 today, going to be starting rowing soon and been really watching my carbs which i know started to creep back up. Hopefully it will jump start the loss again. Hope to lose another 48lbs but at this rate its going to take forever.

Greetings fellow December sleevers. I was sleeved Dec. 27, 2011 and have lost about 75 pounds also, down to 200 pounds. I've been stuck, stuck, stuck here for several months now and have been getting sort of discouraged. I had let some carbs creep back up, so I'm trying to clamp down on them. I added strength training a couple of days a week to my yoga, which I do twice a week and need to up my cardio too. Hoping that will shake it loose, because I still have about 60 pounds I want to lose.

Carol

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
