December sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I need to get one of those ticker things because as of Friday I am..........15 lbs down on this preop nightmare of a diet.

Yay!

I needed to hear that since Wednesday night they weighed me and only said 5lbs. Turns out they had the starting weight written down wrong. The nurse weighed me TWICE on Friday to be sure because she was in shock. Woooooo!

My surgery is two weeks from Thursday. I can't wait, I am sooooooo done with this Optifast stuff. I go today to do my will and medical POA.

Tomorrow is my "workshop" with the nutritionist and therapist. Any idea what we're going to do? They said to bring my support person and it may last two hours so I'm wondering what it will entail...

I got my date! And its the date I want! 12/21. The caveat is that my surgeon is leaving for the holiday, so if there are complications, another doc who is on call would have to take care of me. Should I worry about that?

After 2 insurance denials, I was finally approved via an external appeal to an independent review organization. I just got my December 26th surgery date this week. I guess my surgeon is super busy because it was either Dec. 26 or wait until Jan. 23rd. I am so excited! It will be a liquid Christmas dinner for me this year, I say yum-yum, bring it on :cheers2: ! I will be sleeved at Buffalo General Hosp. Buffalo, NY by Dr. Aaron Hoffman.

@ Deigh,

My nutritionist workshop was about how to eat before (pre -0p) and after. She also talked about Vitamins and the importance of them as well as Protein. She told us to think of protein as medication that we must have daily.

The Therapist talked about dealing with head hunger, body changes and people who are going to try to sabatoge the eating. He also talked about how to show love to others w/o using food.

My husband went with me and thought it was beneficial. In fact he is going to the next support group w/o me as they are doing multiple cooking demos and having a mini holiday food party. I will be on my preop diet at the time, even though I will be surrounded by people who have had or will have surgery, I am not sure I want to put myself in that sitation. Who knows, I may change my mind after I have been on the diet a few days.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
