Well Hello. Let me know if you have any questions. I am now 10 months out from my surgery. If you have any questions please just ask no matter what. I have had some good success in that I've lost 80 lbs so far and I'm still losing. I have gained 2.5 lbs this week due to 2 deaths in the family but hope to finally get back on track starting tomorrow. Where are you having your surgery? How is your surgeon?

WOW, good job on the weight loss. And sorry to hear of your family's loss.

My surgery is now on April 30th. I'm having my surgery at Newton Wellesley in Newton, MA. Surgeon is Dr. Chahal. I'm going there because one of my best friends had her bypass there and highly recommended it.

My question right now is.... Do you have foods you can not eat? My friend who had the bypass can not eat Pasta, rice, bread, any type of sugar, just to name a few.

I had my surgery here in NH at DHMC and had a great experience. Since my surgery I don't eat much Pasta or cheese. I have to take a stool softener if i eat pasta or cheese otherwise I get bound up. I try to stay away from them as much as possible though. I found Shiraki noodles that if done right are an ok substitute for pasta and its healthy. Just rinse them and soak them good because they stink but google them. I figure if I am going to go as drastic as surgery to change my life I am going to follow a healthy diet. I also notice now if I eat red meat I either don't lose or I gain up to half a pound. So I do a lot of chicken, pork and a little fish. I no longer drink soda at all and drink a lot more crystal light then ever before. I do greek yogurt, sugar free pudding and Jello. for a treat I will do a fudge bar (skinny cow or Weight watchers or Shwans light). I have not found any food that I can't eat but there are some I choose not to eat.

I totally agree on eating healthy. I wouldn't go through all of this just for fun.

I don't drink soda, so that's not an issue for me. I have a healthy diet, but even too much of a good thing can be bad, and that's my problem.

I also have fibromyalgia and MS which makes it hard to be as active as I would like, put those together with being 150+ pounds overweight.....

I just started a new savings account for potential cosmetic surgery to take care of the things that are heading South and all the skin....in case I want it when I'm done.

:D

From Southern NH too... not too far from Hudson actually, but a little east. I am just now starting out... I go to the informational semiar at Newton Wellesley on April 26th. Ckel70, maybe you can let me know how you like the program? How long did it take from start to surgery? I called my insurance company today and learned that they will cover the surgery and that the hospital is a participating hospital, so I just need to get started!

I went to my informational meeting in January. My 4 hour consultation was in February. My 1 month follow up in March and my surgery is April 30th. I went through the program at CMC last year.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
