Anybody get a DX of possible Barrett's esophagus or Gastritis?

I had my endoscopy on Saturday and one note says: Rule out Barrett's Cardia and the other says Gastritis. I also have a small erosion.

I'm afraid this diagnosis will go against the sleeve and maybe push towards Bypass.

Does anybody know anything about this?

I was dx'd with Barrett's in my EGD also, it made it where I could not have the Lap-band, but the dr said that the I could still have the sleeve. I still have to have an EGD every year for the next five years to monitor it, but losing the weight and having the hernia repaired will help the GERD and then help the Barrett's. Good luck!!

I received the same dx, and like smallgirlx3, I also have to have an EGD every year for the next 5 years. The only difference is that my doc told me that if it does develop into cancer, that with the VSG, they wouldn't be able to remove it. That's the reason why I have to have one every year. They don't want it to develop into cancer, so they just want to keep an eye on it. It's really nothing to worry about.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! I know my doctor is more sold on bypass, but I want my plumbing intact. I'm, not addicted to carbs and sweets, but I would like to have all foods available to me. As it is I am worried about not being able to deal with the pith (fibrous white part) of citrus fruits, but I can deal.

I also swallow watermelon seeds whole when I eat watermelon. That has to stop I'm sure!
