Slow band loser, will sleeve work for me?

I was banded 1yr ago and have only lost 40lbs. I started at 340 so I am still very large. I have followed the diet, although some of my portions may be over 3 oz of Protein at a meal. I havent lost any weight in 5 months despite dieting and walking several days/week. My labs all check out fine. I am filled 7.5 cc in a 14cc band. When I go tighter I cant keep things down.

I am concerned that having the band will not help me lose weight any better than the band did. I dont want to have a bypass.

Is there hope for me, or am I just wasting more time and money?

If I have the sleeve, I am going to Dr Aceves in Mexicali.

My experience with the sleeve was COMPLETELY different than the band. Lost very little weight with the band and then gained most of it back. Had the band for almost 4 years. With the sleeve I have come within 5 pounds of goal within 7 months. No comparison - the sleeve works the way the band promised, but never actually fulfilled.

Do lots of reseach - Dr Aceves is the best. I was very happy with my experience and results with him.

Good luck-

Keep in mind that I am five weeks out from surgery. That being said:

THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER!!!! I am down 41 lbs, POST-OP! That's more than I lost with that stupid band. It's been rough at times, but it has been a Godsend so far. :D

It's as if you are comparing riding a tricycle to riding Harley. You put a lot of effort into the peddling that trike but the Harley will get you there faster and easier.

PS Dr A is amazing! You can't get better!

All these answers were excellent and really have nothing to add!:D Except that I LOOOVE MY SLEEVE!!! I can't really say I ever felt this way about my band?

I lost a total of about 40 pounds in 3 1/2 years with the band. So far, in ten months, I have lost 85 pounds with the sleeve. The sleeve is amazing and it does what it is suppossed to. I have restriction and that is why I have been so successful!
