6 months today...before and afterWell in a few hours here on the west coast it will be the 18th and that will make it 6 months since surgery for me. E

Today is 6 months since surgery for me. Everything has went pretty damn smooth so far. No complications, no insanity, just nice easy weightloss...thank god. I'm now off all meds (diabetes, high BP, Cholestorol) and I feel much better. In my before pic I was wearing a 3x sweater and size 48 jeans. In my photo from today 1x top and 38 jeans..Some days I look in the mirror and see the old me, and some are a little easier. I think I've always kinda pictured myself as the really big guy even when I wasn't close to that weight..I'm not sure what goal weight I really have, I just want to keep doing what I'm doing and when my body is ready to stop I will be happy. I've been going to the gym 2-3 days a week, and have regained some muscle and strength that I have lost through the years of my lazy life style. If you are on the fence about surgery feel free to hit me up with any questions because I would love to help anybody find the happiness that I have found being freed from all of this excess weight.

High Weight 380? Surgery weight 363 Goal 190ish...Current 5'11 250lbs

Tonight @ 250lbs

WOW WOW WOW!! u remind me of a friend of mine so much who I convinced to go for the surgery and NOW HE IS FEELING THE SAME AS U DO!! as if I am hearing him talking! he feels so great and his surgery went so smooth but sometimes he still see himself as the old one, I told him today to just try one of his old pants and stand infront of a mirror and he called me back so amazed how it changed his self image in his mind, he couldnt believe how the pants are falling off, and he started realizing his victory and counting his changes, like how he has to pierce his belt by the day lol, and we recalled our huge dining out and how much we used to eat and now we cant but still happy!

U have come so far and u truly worked hard with all the exercise and muscels growing inside! I am sorry for my long story but am truly inspired with ur progress and hope u reach wherever makes u comfortable:)

Congratulations, you are doing an amazing job!!! My hubby is sleeved 6 months also and has lost about 60lbs. He is about 30lbs away from his ultimate goal (which ironically he just figured out won't put him in the "healthy" category with his BMI, but he is okay with that...he also is off all meds...yay!)

You are in the right mindset to just keep doing what you are doing and the rest will all fall into place. :cheer2:

Well done indeed. :) You look fantastic. I know what you mean about seeing the "old" you sometimes. It still happens to me too.

Yeah I wish they made in between sizes like 37 or Large and a half because it always seems that I'm stuck between one or the other. I'm to self conscious to wear the size thats a bit to tight so most of the time I'm wearing my clothes a bit baggy. Thanks to everybody for the nice compliments.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
