Hi,

I need to know if anyone has names of physicians in Michigan that are doing the lapband? I have seen a Dr. Cudjoe in alma, MI who is just starting with the lapbands. He does the other surgerys too. Were any of you required to have an Endoscopy before your procedure??? I am just not sure if this is the Surgeon I want to do my procedure, although he is located near me.

I would appreciate your help.

Thanks Kathy

I'm a patient of Dr. Mounir Gazayerli. He's located in Troy and operates at North Oakland Hospital. He's great. I was banded on the 7th of April, I have lost between 48-63 lbs. already. Doc. is also very kind, he sent me a months supply of protien shakes to try. 248-643-4646 give him a call.

I had Dr. Bhesania in Port Huron. He's one of the most experienced lap-band docs in our state and I'm quite pleased with him. :D In my case, he didn't require an endoscopy, but I don't know if that's the case for all his patients. All I had done was bloodwork and an EKG.

I am also a patient of Dr. Deol. She is great!! She has you do lots of pre-op checks, but it just made me thankful that she was checking for every possible problem. She also requires lots of follow-up in order to ensure your success. Post-surgery and I see the nutritionist about every 6 weeks, there is a support group run by the nutritionist and a psychologist and I have also choosen to go to individual therapy to search out the root of my eating problems.

My stay at Beaumont hospital was great.

So, if you choose Dr. Deol, I think you will be very happy.

Greta

Good Luck!

Hi Everyone,

I finally decided to stay with the Surgeon I am seeing. The staff is awfull, but he is a good Surgeon, Edward Cudjoe, M.D. and is in alma, MI. That is probably the only one I know this far north that does the bands.

I did have my Endoscopy last week Thursday. All went well, they put me completely to sleep ( I like that, I don't want to know what is going on). I woke up and it was all done!

I am scheduled to see him the 10th of June and hopefully will be scheduled for surgery soon after. I will keep you posted.

Thanks to Everyone,

Kathy

I received lapband surgery from Dr. Cudjoe. I am very happy with him. He seems a little shy, but he really cares about his patients. He takes extra precautions from what I have seen about other Dr.'s on this site. I have had no problems with his office staff, but have heard from others that they are not the friendliest. There is also a great support group through his office.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
